Hi. A couple weeks ago I had problems with a SATA connector on my motherboard, and so I had to go without my DVD drive.

I just bought a PCI SATA controller card so I can plug that in, and have two extra SATA ports, and use all my hard drives and DVD drive.

I installed it a couple hours ago, and connected a hard drive I use for data (music, video, pictures, etc) into it. Connecting the DVD drive back to the MoBo.

Since then my computer has started running really slowly, and eventually just freezes completely after about 15-30 mins.

This is my first time working with a card like this so does anyone know what's happening, and how I could fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Can you try it the other way around and see if it helps?

As in connect the HDD to the mobo and the DVD drive to the card?
