Are you sure you don't have a virus or bit torrent running?

Yu say when all this is running, but have yu tried to isolate the issue?

Turn things off one by one and see if it gets better?

No no virus, sky told me run net stat and about 30 ports appeared, no surprise with 7 ip cams, server and loads of other stuff, they copped out simply saying that they reccomend using no mor than 10, what's the use in that in 2011!?!?!?!?

Ok I have a plan, but I'm not sure it can be done.

What about using seperate routers, 2 totally physically independent networks:

A) all my ip cameras and internal network stuff

B) purely an Internet only network ( this means only 4 pc's need connect to the sky router and nothing else exists on the network - 'freeing up' the sky router.

Issue: how can I make my whs 2011 rig only use network A to receive all the data from the ip cameras and monitor them off this network, but ONLY use network B as the 'normal' network to send data to and from the net and to serve media to stuff around the house?

Adding 2 physical network cards to the system is ok but can I do what I want it do? I bascially wanna take the ip cameras to another network on there own internal network but both networks have to go to the one pc :/

Yes it's possible, just configure the 2nd NIC to use the second network. The traffic shouldn't cross over from the two networks.

iit will sort itsself out as long sa only one card has a default gateway...

unbind everythign bit IP form the internet network card ot make sure it does not chatter on that network

that is unbind everything BUT ip from the internet side card..

I would get a cheap switch (£40) and try that first, plug nothing into the router except the switch, it will stop so much traffice being hammered thru the router...

it also offloads a load of work from the router as its not being a hub/switch and it should never see intermachine comms

Well everything wired is currently plugged into the ASUS router, thats acting as an AP, then 1 wire goes into the sky router, this now see's anything going into the asus router, wireless or wired as always wired, and still the same happens, will a switch act differently to the asus router?
