I currently have an acer19 WS , and am seriously thinking on changing it to a 24" screen.
I have my eye on the Samsung SM-245B 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black
and have spent the last hr+ reading the threads here and reviews.
But i fell i just need a bit more persuading :P ,, so persuade me :D:D
For about £300 is this the best 24" out there for gaming , and will i notice much differance between this and my current 19"WS acer

PS when OC had this on offer how much was it reduced to.

Me too, lol, Im also considering buying it, but the Hyundai seems to boast a few better points like 2ms GtG responce time and that it has HDMI and it says specially it can handle a 1080P input, i went onto samsungs website for info about the 245B and i didnt see anything referring to Full HD?

whats putting me off the hyundai w240d is the fact i went onto their website and the links for the drivers are down for this model (im not sure what a monitor driver does but is this important??)

So atm im 50% either way between the samsung 245b and the hyundai, need to order tomorrow so help as well!

But the 245B does look nice tho ;)

any screen that does 1920x1200 can do a full hd input simple as that. hdcp is all you need , hdmi specifically is pointless. the only difference between hdmi and hdcp is audio signal extra in the hdmi. now considering you're not likely to send a audio signal to a screen without speakers, its not really needed ;)

i'm in the same boat, kinda, really want a 1920x1200 screen and don't want to be ripped off.

there is a new iiyama out, and the nec version is out soon too, both using TN panels and both with a long record of good quality screens. Thing i've always thought is, from seeing a bunch of different panels, is that NEC make incredibly good screens, so i'm very tempted to go for the NEC panel. though i think the iiyama has a 3ms response time and the nec is similar to the samsung. i personally would get one of those three and not spend money on hdmi ports or "lesser" brands.

the iiyama is out now and about the same price(cheaper some places) than the samsung, you can get both for about £300 at the mo though, the NEC isn't seemingly out yet, but was supposed to be out last month and a little later in the uk.

Can you give me any model numbers, just makes it easier when researching them? Thanks;)

(sry joedeath didnt mean to hijack your thread, this is for your benefit too :D hehe)

Consider a 22" ,they are very big more than enough imo, the trouble with 24" sceens is you will always have to have the very best graphics card to max new games out at it's native resolution.
Movies are for xvid capable dvd players and large lcd tv's not computer monitors.

My current card is just an x1950xt (256mb), which i plan to upgrade after xmas to an 8800gt is the reviews are good.
Will my x1950xt (256mb) run games @ 1920 x 1200 on low / med settings ? if i went for the 245b ?
