I can remember the semi in '90 as if it were yesterday and i still think we were better than the Germans, and certainly better than the Argies, who they beat in the final.

Take the squad from '90 onwards and make the best team you can and the worst.

Mine

Robinson - Shilts was getting on a bit then and Seamon never realy inspired me
RB Parker
CB Terry
CB King
LB Pearce
MF Beckham
MF Robson - got injured after 1st match iirc
MF Gazza
MF Cole J
F Rooney
F Lineker

Subs if you want

Gerrard Owen Adams Platt Sherringham

Rooney and Gazza in the same team now that would be something to see

GK Robinson
RB Neville - as much as i hate the little runt, he aint put a foor wrong for us in 10 years
CB Butcher - just squeeze him in ahead of adams
CB Rio just ahead of campbell
LB Pearce
MF Beckham
MF Ince - Best def mid in the 90`s for me
MF Gerrard - robson was too injury prone for me
MF Gazza - nuff said
F Rooney - Ditto
F Shearer - Best england striker for a long long time, would have been the all time top scorer if injuries hadnt killed his england career.

Aye its flat across the midfield with not a lot of pace, but i've gone for players rather than an actuall system.

King CB??

Can hardly say hes a "recognised" England Player

pace strong can also do the holding mf bit dont give away silly fouls ala Campbell quicker than adams Butcher and Terry too similar Wright werent bad though i thought, he'd be there if he wer'nt injured and probally ahead of Campbell, Rio goes too sleep a bit

think id have owen and shearer up front...

doubt id have gerrard in yet.. as besides the incredible performances for liverpool he has.. he hasnt really done as much for england...

I think Sven keeps ringing up the wrong Steven Gerrard to be honest.

Some very dodgy choices there. Parker, King & Cole?

Are you a spurs fan per chance?

King was horribily found out against the argies in the holding role, pace isnt a pre-requisite for being a good center half, infact all it does is help you fix your **** ups!

True, but if you go on world wide reputation id say yes, but in reality scholes and platty have a better chance to be in their due to their performances.

ok so King maybe a little biased but Parker was very good at the '90 WC he sort of disapeared after that I picked Cole to balance the side, but as formation dont seem to be an issue I would go for Gerrard the one that played in the FA cup

Anyway with Gazza and Rooney who would need a defence we'd just score more than they would

-------------Seaman

Neville----Adams--Campbell ----A.Cole

---------------Ince
------Gerrard ----------Gazza

-------------Rooney

------Lineker--------Owen

All players are picked based upon the peek of their careers.
Cole and Neville will ake their runs up the wings, covering for my obvious lack of width.

NB. Owen may need to be dropped and Rooney take his place with Scholes taking up the Rooney positions, if Owen can not get his act together and work with Lineker.

GK Robinson

DL Pearce
DR Neville
DC Adams
DC Terry

ML Waddle
MR Beckham
MC Ince
MC Gascoigne

ST Rooney
ST Lineker

There are soooo many more I want to put in though.

Scholes, Platt, Butcher, Shearer, Owen
