this is what i'd chose too :), can't beleive so many people pick other GK's over shilton. As for strikers, they seem like obvious choices to me, Rooney is the most creative striker availible from 90's onwards, and lineker is just a predator who can make the best of openings. Might make a case for owen as he's probably the quickest, but i'd be happy with rooney and lineker to start. Get shearer on late in the game if it looks like penalty shootout though :D

Because Peter Shiltons last international appearance was in 1990.

Which i would think makes him technically ineligable for selection anyway.

The centre back pairing carry plenty of set piece threat (though campbells tend to be disallowed  )as well as being defensively sound. The left and right backs should offer support to the midfielders on the edges of the diamond, and the occasional cross.
Captain fantastic bosses things from in front of the back four while timing late runs into the box.
Beckham is the supplier on the right, Shearer provides the aerial threat, Lineker the poacher for the knockdowns.
The thought of Barnes and Rooney on the ball should terrify any defender, especially with Linekers movement pulling the defence out of shape.
If either have an off day Scholes and Gascoigne are on the bench.
No strikers in the subs as the attacking midfielders can be pushed forward.
