Making a remote shutdown script

Hi guys,

I have a Windows 2003 server, which is in turn attached to a load of XP pcs.

I want to be able to run a script which will connect to these computers and remotely shut them down, but I am having problems with the Windows Firewall and the shutdown command.

As I want to leave the windows firewall switched on, the shutdown command I was running from the server was not able to see the computers I wanted to shut down.

Can anyone offer some advice to help me make a script that will shut down the computers, despite there being a Firewall in the way?

can you add an exception rule in the firewall for that script?

If possible, I'd like to add an exception to the firewall for the one server that I want to run the script, but I can't see an option for allowing specific computers?

when adding the rules in the firewall click the change scope button which should allow you to specify the server
