It is that simple with USB2, if you want to use it eSATA then there might be a bit more to it... If your rig has an eSATA port on the mobo then it should be fine, but it may not be hot-swap and you may find you have to boot with it already attached for your PC to see it correctly.
 
Ah it does have esata ports which I guess I could use but having said that it's only going to be storing videos and music so prob no need for esata
 
Or are there slave/master settings or driver stuff to do that would be a hassle over buying a normal pre-made external etc?

A walk through/any experience would be good - just thinking about it all before I buy.

Sata drives don't have any Master/Slave jumpers, sata drives have a port each, they don't share a cable like an IDE drive.

Some have a jumper to set them to SATA 1 mode, but that's about it. The WD Green you have selected will work fine with no jumpers fitted, according to the WD website.
