Bear with me please as i'm new to this..

I've just purchased the domain: stevemillwardphotography.com and the site works fine. However, it doesn't seem to show up when i google 'steve millward photography'.

On my site i've located the following settings:

What do i need to enter here to maximise my site for search engines?

Just to add, when i now google 'steve millward photography' this thread is one of the top matches, yet my site doesn't show up at all in the same search..

I've had (and still having!) problems with this. I created a very basic site for a local business. Typing their site name into Yahoo produces results but nothing else.
I've registered with Google. Yahoo and Bing but that's made no difference either.

I have been advised that adding external links helps - they're detected by search engines when they crawl the web.

Still no joy here though :(

You will notice that your search lists this site as the top one, as this site is very popular and your site, being new is not.
You need to get some links going, exchnage links with other sites. Google takes this into account. The more sites that link to you the better.

Has your site been spidered yet by the robots ?
Do you have a robots.txt file in your root folder?

I have just looked at your website and have a couple of suggestions for you

1. Take your email address off the conatct us page, once the spambots crawl your site, you will start to enjoy 1000's of spam email each day. or put it like this
[email protected] or create a jpeg with the correct address on,

2. you have links to Fbook & flicker, these links take the visitor away from your site, try setting the link to open in a new window (tell the visitor first)

3. add some more text to your homepage

Good Luck :)

Cheers, like i say i'm new to all this but will give your suggestions a go :)

Also, what do i need to be typing in (if anything) in the options fields in the screenshoot in my first post?

from what i see of your site, most of it is alreday been done, prob by the homepage content

<title>Steve Millward Photography - Home</title>
<meta name='description' content='steve millward photography' />
<meta name='keywords' content='steve,millward,photography' />
<meta property='og:site_name' content='Steve Millward Photography' />
<meta property='og:title' content='Steve Millward Photography' />
<meta property='og:description' content='steve millward photography' />
<meta property='og:image' content='' />
<meta property='og:url' content='http://www.stevemillwardphotography.com/' />
so i dont think you need it.
also google is running, so it seems all ok.

Yes i have. As i said earlier this thread is the first match on google when searching for steve Millward photography but no sign of my site in the same search...

Yes linking to new sites speeds up the indexing, it doesn't make it immediate. It can take up to 3 weeks for your site to appear on google, links just make it appear faster due to the way google updates its search results.
