Making photos look 70's when uploading to FB

I enjoy Instagram and take pictures of anything I might find interesting or artistic, and upload them there. I'll add a filter around 50% of the time if I feel it will improve the look of the photo. I do this for myself, I don't particularly care if someone else gets irritated by it. In fact, if I knew, someone, somewhere, was going to throw a hissy fit over it, I'd add a filter especially.

Thing is ....its for noobs

Because people want to think their photographers and by adding some stupid software into the middle of it, it helps them think they're good at something they're not.

I blame lomography - shop selling cheap plastic medium format cameras at ridiculously inflated prices to hipsters... hipsters started uploading them to social media and the trend seemed to then prompt someone to create some others to create simple programs/filters so you could achieve the same effect via your iphone - polariod app, instagram etc..

Still though, a picture is only really poor when the photographer fails to observe some of the more simple rules to taking a photo, such as composition. Thats how I differentiate between a "snapshot" and an actual "photograph".
