Hi folks,

I'm off to Malaga for six days on Sunday - staying in Benalmadena. Anyone have any restaurant recommendations, and/or activity suggestions? Planning to spend some of it on the beach but also like to explore the city.

Won't have a hire car this time, so things I can get to on public transport, ideally.

Thanks in advance for anything you can suggest!

Just been for the nth time, I'll get back to you tomorrow.

Question - do you like hammams (like Roman/Arab baths)?

  • If you like hammams - recommend Hammam Al Andalus. Really nice relaxing experience with different temperature baths and you can add a massage. Suggest booking in advance.
  • Alma Lima - nice Peruvian restaurant near the beach
  • El Refectorium Malagueta - a restaurant out hotel recommended but we didn't have time to go
  • Speakeasy “The Pharmacy” - nice cocktail bar
  • Perro viejo - decent tapas bar
  • ENGLISH SPEAKING DOCTOR - random one but if you run into any medical issues (like my wife did), got it sorted quick time here. Saves a long journey to the hospital
  • Pez Wanda - good restaurant
  • Niccia - another lovely restaurant
  • La Destilería - cocktail bar
  • Cortijo de Pepe - locally recommended tapas bar
  • El Pingoneo - no frills but great quality food tapas bar
  • Castillo de Gibralfaro - castle overlooking the city
  • Bodeguita de Marco - tapas bar
  • Restaurante Bar El Ancla - seafood restaurant
Buses are easy to use and you can just tap your card, plus Uber works really well.

Amazing, thanks for taking the time to write all that <3

If you do get a chance - Caminito Del Rey - obviously without a car not so easy and a bit touristy these days but still well worth it if you get a chance.
