Malaysian Grand Prix 2015, Kuala Lumpur - Race 2/19

not sure why all the Hamilton hate for whining, Rosberg was far worse, and Hamilton was fine on the podium.

Next race will tell us how the season will go, if Merc have anything not turned up, it will be at the next race and we will know how close it is.

He's been at this a little while now. He should know enough to be able to make calls all by himself. He wants tyres, the team must prepare them. He wants to stay out on track, they can sod back off into the garage. He needs to start calling the shots.

But he doesn't race for Hamilton F1. He can advise the team but ultimately its their call. They are the ones that have a lot more info than the drivers especially surrounding the other racers

Yeah, Hamilton complains when he's under stress in the car but he doesn't behave badly out of it when he's had time to calm down.

I thought he was quite rude when asked by johnny herbert how he would do today on the track parade bus... he said "i dunno man" in a grouchy tone, just like a hormonal teenager would. Actually took me aback for a second, then i realised it was lewis hamilton after all.

Well he didn't know for one thing none of them did ( Apart from Will Stevens) Plus how many times do you think he got asked that question from journo's a former GP driver should know the answer to that

They say the same about most footballers.. No personality. Yep thats why they play football and not present tv/radio shows.

He's first a racing driver and everything else is 2nd. Some drivers do it better so do it worse. But if thats what he's like then thats what he's like.

Wow I'm playing Devils advocate today

This was discussed to death about 5 years ago, when Hamilton was subjected to bad decisions made by McLaren. In some instances he will winning races inspite of their decisions (and not because of them).

Button came in and I think on his debut race, immediately overuled McLaren's bad decisions and benefitted. I think he won his debut race (not sure).

Senna also did the same - he used to have the final say and if necessary, would overrule his team's decision. Senna was particularly adept at taking pit stops at exactly the right time.

Ultimately, the driver has the best information (in his brain) regarding the way the car is handling and whether or not he wants to come in for a tyre change. The team can advise but the driver is the boss, when it comes to pit stop strategy.

EDIT: I just saw mattyg's sig...very funny.

The comparison to senna is ridiculous. The amount of data available to the pits on the car and where exactly every other car is doesn't bear comparison to sennas day. If the team says you back off 1/2 second per lap to stretch the tyres and you could still maintain a place you would be inclined to believe them.

On the last stint lewis and seb were on hards yet lewis couldnt close the gap, forget strategy, merc just werent quick enough. Ferrari bossed it.

They were quicker today but it was more down to track conditions rather than any developments to the car, they made up the 0.6 second per lap based on the results in Australia.

Didn't watch the race in as much detail as normal, as I was away on a family holiday, but had it on in the background and from what I saw it was a brilliant race. I'm sure the intense heat equalised things somewhat, but if that's a taste of things to come for 2015 then I'm really looking forward to a few more races like that.

Although I'd like a Brit to be winning I really don't like Hamilton, he's a fast driver but his constant sulking, cry baby behaviour and blaming when things are not going his way is just far too annoying.

You see Hamilton has a fast car and wants to win so his concentrating on the race.
Oh and how did your team get on? I think it was a first double fail for mclaren.

No. This is the first double fail since 2006.

Brilliant race, seemed to have all the ingredients required to make it very interesting. If only there had been some rain in the last 10 laps it would have been just about perfect!

Also, had some great racing with the Williams car which was awesome when I was sat in Grove :D

I forgot how good/useful it was watching with the lap time information displayed next to the main screen. I used to always do this when I was younger. The chat with Pat Symonds at the beginning was nice, and also the pre-race talk to Massa was interesting. He seemed so calm and jovial at what must be a pretty hectic time.

What I did not know and only realised yesterday is that the drivers parade is recorded, and played back whilst the drivers are doing media/team commitments.

I also got a quick peek into one of the restoration rooms and got to see some of the early cars mid-rebuild. Some fantastic and expensive machinery on show :D

Even Kimi said that Ferrari's pace was down to the extreme conditions, so let's see if they can close the gap on the more standard tracks.

It was clear in the winter that they'd made a decent step, but I still maintained they wouldn't be regular challengers for wins... it didn't take them long to put me in my place.

Obvious troll is obvious.

It's all you ever do now. You used to post good\funny posts but now...well you're acting like an old git :)

Terribly sorry you feel that way deuse. Actually, that's a lie. I'm not sorry at all.

Anyway, quick 'LOL' of the day for me - guess who now has accrued the most penalty points on his licence since they were introduced last year? Drumroll please....

Ladies and gentlemen, please give it up for Pastor Maldonado - 8 penalty points, and two thirds of the way to a ban. He gets to lose three of those before China as they time out after 12 months, but if there is one thing we can be certain of in F1 it's that Maldonado will do something worthy of a penalty again fairly soon.

Getting there but not there just yet :D

He should be banned. He has no sense of awareness.

I said before I can understand his government backing him to see how far he can go and how good he can get, but surely there is a point where he became a laughing stock and held no value to backing so heavily? Surely that 30mil(roughly speaking) would bring more value to the brand and Venezuela being plastered all over someone not seen as a walking car crash.

Lots of drivers have terrible awareness though, Massa throughout his career has been pretty dire and he tends to, because of the cars he's been in, hit a lot more guys in genuine title fights, he's done more damage to more frankly important cars.

Hulk's move on Kvyat was ridiculous as well, when you actually see where he was on track when he came and hit Kvyat there was both zero space to over take, and he effectively cut the corner with a couple tires off track, ridiculous attempt and spun a driver having a (considering the brakes) great race.

Maldonado would probably have more points by now if that last years Lotus wasn't so bad to control and slow, he took himself out rather than other drivers. But I think with correct punishment a lot more drivers would have loads of points, Sutil would be in major trouble, he hits everything every race, Perez has his fair share of idiot moments. Massa should have been hit pretty hard IMHO for his blatant cutting off Magnussen into the first corner, that he took himself out and flipped his own car. Points/bans/penalties seem to only be given if the outcome is favourable to the person driving badly, if they screw up their own race there is no fair punishment. Just because Massa ruined his own race shouldn't save him from being punished for ruining someone else's race. As he gets away with such incidents he really doesn't improve.

I mean he still thinks he was hard done by and Magnussen hit him even though in that incident I think 4 maybe 5 other pairs of drivers went through the same corner behind them in the correct manor. Not a single driver on the wide line cut across the inside, only Massa and he caused a car flipping accident... but it's not his fault.

I'd prefer to see a steadier stream of new drivers and those who really shouldn't be around kicked out after only a year if they are too stupid to have on the grid.
