Malwarebytes.

another stupid subscription model... I hate the way software is going, pay yearly and there's no guarantee that they'll actually do anything to the software after you've subscribed.

I paid for a copy, I tend to think if something is good enough for me to use more than once it's good enough (and only fair) that I pay for it.

To be fair, you're not just paying for software with some set functionality that never changes. You're actually paying for a subscription to a service that constantly tracks threats and updates the software functionality all the time.

Tiraninum Cloud Scanner is also free but has way better detection (often 100% even on 0day packs) than MBAM these days anyway. MBAM has its place but it's no longer my go-to as Tiranium finds way more samples on infected PCs. On the MalwareTips forum the daily 0day pack tests often put MBAM in the 50-60% detection range whereas Tiranium consistently scores 100% or at worst 99.x%, and although it's a French company (lol) it has an English GUI and works really well.

Download link. Definitely one for any tech or serious amateur's toolkit. Plus it's a portable app. Win! :)
