Man, Apple are so awesome!

Yeah, I'd agree with that. It's a half developed scattergun approach. Apple won't release a feature until it's well developed and works as intended. Samsung don't care as it looks impressive on the spec sheet top trumps that dictates Android sales.

I can't fault Apple's customer service. I had a troublesome 2011 MBP (before they did a repair extension). They took it in for repair when well out of warranty which they offered under consumer law. When the repairs didn't hold they profusely apologised and gave me a new high spec MacBook Pro.

No randal wasn't. The first iPhone 8 cost billions, the second one £150. The cost of an item is more than the bill of materials to the manufacturer. Naturally there's a profit margin built in as they're a public company with shareholders keep happy, not a charity.
Yes he was. This is a thread about the awesomeness of a free coffee when you have just provided a several hundred pound margin to the biggest company in the world. The first iPhone 8 did not cost apple billions. NOT making an iPhone 8 would cost them billions in the eyes of shareholders.

Guess we're fundamentally going to disagree on this then. The first iPhone cost $2.6bn to develop in 2007 dollars. I can't imagine this cost less to develop, the X even more with all the extra technology. Prove me wrong and I'm all ears.

You are right people underestimate development costs but Apple are making more minor changes rather than revolutionary changes backed up by a sizeable markup.

At some point the minor or what could be more accurately called evolutionary changes cost a lot in terms of R&D spend. How much have Intel spent on CPU R&D since Sandy Bridge for small incremental steps?

Again, you are completely missing the point. Irrespective of what Apple spend in R&D, they will generate a 35-50% margin on this product. The OP did not by a billion dollar iPhone because it is the first off the line. You are also trying to educate the wrong person on how multi billion pound business manages their manufacturing, supply chain and route to market.

I liken the OP to me when I bought my car. I got "free" mats, except I'm aware enough to realise that I paid for them in one way or another. I also don't wax lyrical about about how brilliant the dealer is for giving me a "free" coffee when I wait for my £400 service.

Isn't this bum licking better in the apple forum?

Edit - Starbucks coffee is nasty

Agreed. I've had Starbucks about 5 times and in different countries and every time the coffee has been disgusting. Tastes like they've burned beans. If I had been give a Cafe Nero I would've been happy.

Nice gesture though.

LOL. I'm not missing the point. You're the one trying to have a pointless argument and score points against someone who's having fun pushing your buttons as you keep replying.

Have fun ;)

I'm not trying to score points, just having a debate. Why bother wasting your and my time if you're just trolling?

Depends which town you are talking about, the one i worked in, their PJ's is awful.. If anything it made us busier.

The one by the Lidl/Aldi and Johnstons paint.

We prefer PJ's pizza but Dom's chicken BUT, we are now Pizza'd out. Not had one for ages. I used to work at the independent one near tesco express in birkdale. And I think 20+ years of Pizza being our go to food has taken its toll.

Now Southport needs a Tortilla and a Five Guys..

The one thing PJ and Dominos has over the local competition is in Delivery time. 8pm on a sat and its generally on the table within 30mins.

Locals generally start at 45mins- 1hr.

Didn't realise you where from Southport haha

I Ran the St Helens/Huyton/Crosby stores, I'm just delivering for Southport atm whilst i'm a mature student at edge hill, decided to go back to studies when my dad got diagnosed with cancer.

Southport could be a lot better, but they are making some major improvements over previous years. Papa johns in southport had a big problem with management, i believe their store manager stole £14,000 in takings before getting caught.

I love the hate that apple generates from people who don't use their products.

He got free coffee. Thats a nice thing to get regardless of why they did it. How many places do that regardless of how much you are spending there?

Would it be better if apple slapped you before they took your money?

Hey guys,

Just to praise Apple a bit here :D

Yesterday I went for the launch of the new iPhone 8 / AW Series 3..

I was there early, surprisingly quiet (I think everyone is waiting for the launch of iPhone X) and while were waiting, Starbucks were around taking orders from people..free of charge and order whatever we fancy..and guess who's expense this was..Apple..

Now I know they are making a lot of money from people like me.. but how good do Apple look after their customers...

Were there many in the queue?
