Man bites snake in epic struggle

Is this for real?

I handled a 12 ft Reticulated python about 15 years ago, it was all muscle but I seriously doubt it could have hauled me up a tree as we both weighed about the same, now if it were much bigger than that and he was a skinny little runt then maybe.

it says it was 13ft / 4 metres so not THAT big. They can measure over 5 metres i think.

"I stepped on a spongy thing on the ground and suddenly my leg was entangled with the body of a huge python," he said.

"I had to bite it." :S

I am sure there is a trouser snake joke in there somewhere.

If the picture in the article is correct, it's a burmese python, which are much "chunkier" than a retic. Just like an anaconda might not grow as long as a retic but they can weigh twice as much. Although it does seem a little dodgy for it to drag him into a tree. Neither burmese pythons nor reticulated pythons are mainly arboreal, and it'd make much more sense for it to kill him where it grabbed him.

Lol this is clearly a b******t african story, I'm no snake expert but I do understand the laws of physics. No way could a snake pull a man up a tree... don't these type of snakes prefer to crush their prey and swallow them whole first?

I love this quote...

"The police officer said they took the snake to a sanctuary in Malindi town but it escaped overnight, probably from a gap under the door in the room where it was kept."

How big was the gap under the door if the snake could pull a bloke up a tree?!?! :D

How big was the gap under the door if the snake could pull a bloke up a tree?!?! :D

They can actually flatten their bodies like a pancake to get under some doors and fences. Saw it on a Steve Irwin programme. Snakes scare me to death.

Some absolutely brilliant posts in this thread though :D

dont know if its true but a few years ago my dad had a mate who brought a 12ft python over to our house.

the man said that if a snake trys to constrict you, you can just unwind it from its tail end as they have little strength that way.
