How cool is that keyboard, it looks like it comes from a ships console from a 70's/80's sci-fi movie, it's got a nice retro gadgety look to it.

"Lighted keyboards are nothing new, but they tend to light every key the same way, or can be limited to just one color. Saitek is changing that with the Cyborg keyboard, a gaming keyboard with a unique, multicolored lighting system.

The Cyborg keyboard divides its keys into a variety of zones, like the WASD keys, the other letter keys, the number pad, and the arrow keys. When gaming, users can customize the lighting of each zone through the keyboard's touch sensor panel, changing the zones' color and brightness. The WASD keys can blaze bright red, the number pad and letters can glow a soft blue, and the hot keys on the keyboards' sides can glow orange.

Besides customizable lighting, the Cyborg keyboard includes a variety of other gaming features. The WASD keys, arrow keys, and space bar are metal-plated, giving them a different look from the other keys, and according to Saitek, makes them wear better. Users can program the side hot keys with custom commands and macros for certain games. Finally, two USB jacks, a microphone jack, and an audio/headphone jack sit on the keyboard, letting users hook up additional devices like headsets and game controllers through the keyboard itself.

Saitek plans to ship the Cyborg keyboard in March, with a suggested retail price of $80."

For me it looks really cool (from the pics) unless it was made of really cheap and nasty plastic?

I suppose it depends partly on your age as to wether you like it or not, its got a real 70/80's SCI FI thing going as the OP stated which I kinda like :)

I really like the keyboard, I love the retro knight rider look, dependent on price this would be a really tempting change for me as just have a basic logitech at the moment.

It is. Big and chunky retro like the 80's. It actually reminds me of the BBC computer keyboards in schools, long long time ago!

Blimey, a BBC Micro that had the perforated panel to the left of the keyboard intact! Every one I saw at school had been punched through and filled with sweet wrappers or paper.

O/T, that's an awful keyboard in my mind. It's garishly lit, multiple LED colours together look tacky and cheap as does the plastic it's back lighting.

One colour if any at all is better, less is more and looks a darn sight classier. The Logitech G15 Rev 1 is a prime example of that, simple blue with subtle back lighting .
 
I have to say I like it. I wouldn't use the hand rest but like the hot keys on each side. I like the retro sci-fi look. As far as not getting laid if you have it in your room Id say my comp is in its own room in the house I own so who cares =P
 
It reminds me of the old arcade machines and the way the buttons lit up.

Hold on - I'm thinking of bingo and the way the screen lit up with the plastic sliders lol - years ago.

I like the retroness - I personally wouldnt have it though.
