I'm historically completely useless at DIY... Well today I removed, fixed and replaced a door handle, replaced 6 light bulbs and hung 4 pictures :D I have started my quest to earn more man points and not be a complete girl round the house.

So go me, that is all. :D

You have passed the basics. Next... Level 2.

What's level 2?

I'm actually tempted to see if I can sly on the basic wiring course they do for the technicians at work so I can do plugs and the like.

I need to do the back gate next (remove and refix it) feeling all pro, may even buy a toolbox now :p

Level 2 is not as hard as you may think....

Level 1 = Replace a door handle, Replaced 6 light bulbs, Hang 4 pictures.
Level 2 = Wire a plug, Paint a wall, Put up a shelf.

 :D

I've helped paint a wall once so I've at least started on two :)

Is assembling idea furniture on any level? :p

How disgustingly sexist

Congratulations on the basic DIY skills but I think women are more than capable of doing the same thing, so I do not see how they are "man" points.

Oh good lord, someone call the waaaaaaaaaahmbulance and get some tissues, we're going to have tears.

That's what they keep telling us until a situation arises that requires some simple mechanical understanding or DIY skills

Then you are the man again, until said task is complete.

My Missus is no bother to be fair, she knows I'm rubbish at DIY, great in the garden but rubbish at DIY. Just decided (will make it my resolution) to get some man skills as I can't rely on her dad, my dad and assorted uncles forever. That generation seems to have a good grasp and basic skills in almost everything. My generation (late 20s) seem god awful at everything unless they have a trade, then they are good at that.

I am sorry you hang around with women who need your help with such things, maybe hang out with some members of the opposite sex that aren't retarded, or is that a prerequisite to hanging out with you?

So you are accusing us of all being sexist... Yet a woman who can't do DIY is somehow retarded? Bit sexist that considering I would imagine you are calling a large amount of women retarded.

Get out you sexist pig, OUT!!!

Why is this a sexism thread? Thought it was to give OP gratz for changing a lightbulb

If there's a big DIY project to do then just get someone in to do it because if they screw it up you can sue them. You can't really sue yourself for being ****e at DIY :p

To add to the sexism row that rages on in here- I'd actually really like it if my gf or wife was able to fix things round the house and there would be no minus man points or plus man points for anything that either person could reasonably do. She would be banned from the kitchen too as everyone knows the kitchen is a man's place :)

Also- gratz to the OP for changing lightbulbs.

I hung pictures and fixed a door too!

Like what? :p

It's more that I'm off for 2 weeks and the last week or so at work was dead so I'm amusing myself by being on ocuk more.

Are we not allowed to start threads? :(

Start what you like, I find them thrilling as do many others.

"OMGZ I'm so drunk!!!" and "OMGZ I put up a shelf!!!"

Sterling work there, lets hope that this is the high standard of threads from now on!

It was a question as you don't seem to post crap threads very often and yet here we are in another **** thread of yours, seemed out of the ordinary really. I'll leave you to it, let us know next time you wipe your arse.

Dear me what crawled up your **** and died?

Since when did GD become such a hotbed of perfect discussion and threads that provoke such deep levels of thought? Did I miss the memo on that one?

GD is about having a laugh (at least that's how I treat it) I'm sorry if you don't like it but perhaps you would be best off staying in Speakers Corner then? And why the personal attack on me when there are so many others posting much worse threads out there? I try to drop in threads that will either give people a chuckle (or a facepalm groan at least) or just to generally chat if I'm bored, that's what I like about OcUK as it's all treat light heartedly... until now it seems :(

Also I'm hardly proud of the drunk thread, I was drunk and cringed a lot when I read that one in the morning :p

You're doing a great job of keeping us amused, keep it up. Post a few more as well. :p:D

At least some of us aren't dead inside :)

Read my post again, I asked why the sudden change as I don't often see you posting stupid threads? A simple question that you have taken to heart, apologies, I didn't realise you were so precious :/

I'm dead inside because I asked you why you keep posting attention seeking threads?

Thumbs up!

I explained that, I'm off work + bored = more time on OcUK.

Also see above for the reasoning behind my threads, I'm not being precious I'm just somewhat bemused at getting berated for starting threads.

Berated!

Good one!

Glad you like, thought I best use less common words as we clearly need to up the standards out here in the wild world of GD.

oh so there isn't a problem as what GIMP makes it out to be ?

I did post a drunk thread a while back, I was rather drunk, and it was rather embarassing but ho hum.

I just didn't realise this was a particular problem, but I suppose when you have zinger threads like "post pictures of "insert generic item"" "can farting get you sacked" and " "insert generic conspiracy" thread clearly it stands out and lowers the tone.

That I do, cesspit of idiots :)

With nothing better to do with their time than police ocuk. :)

Silly threads attract the overly sensitive.

Keep up the good work, it makes for great reading!

So has my thread delivered and served it purpose? :p

GImp, in all honesty, what is the problem? Have I in some way offended you? Are you having a bad day? Talk to us, don't just berate and belittle us. GD is there for a laugh, treat it as such, if you don't like threads why attack the posters and OP in there instead of just moving along? There are a few posters I don't like but I don't go having a do at them, I just ignore and move on. Talk to us GImp. /hug.
