Man regrows finger?!

It wasn't a transplant. Mr Spievak re-grew his finger tip. He used a powder - or pixie dust as he sometimes refers to it while telling his story. Mr Speivak's brother Alan - who was working in the field of regenerative medicine - sent him the powder.

Well we grew them in the first place so whats stopping a powder stimulating the same kind of growth again? Looks very interesting, imagine sumone loosing a leg and being able to grow it back!

Though the finger regrowing part is very eerie......
i got kind of lost when they went on about regrowing organs, surely that would be very complicated ? How would it know to what size to regrow ? Does he have feeling in it ? Why use pig 'scrapings', in particular ?

Just goring back the tip of a finger where you haven't really lost any tendons etc is much more simple than a joint, people haven't even been able to do that with stem cells etc and billions in research grants.

You say that like I actually put more thought into my post than what first occured to me.

But with some sort of medicinal wizadry I'm sure you could concoct some sort of formula of the right hormones required to stimulate the correct type of cells to grow.
