Man trapped between train and platform

Awful thing to have - whoever thought it would be a good idea to make these? Surely there is a reason?!

Aw man this looks awful, hope he's ok, can't imagine how much pain and fear he must have experienced.

Thats what I mean, so without trying to sound harsh he must have been doing something stupid, ie standing on the moving platform whilst waiting for the train to come in, the platform moved forwards and he overbalanced and fell down.
 
Maybe he was just innocently nudged while stood waiting for the train, maybe a sudden crowd surge or something.

There's certainly a shock element to seeing those first pictures, he must be in such intense agony and for so long too, 30+ minutes for the emergency services to get there?
 
Why do they design things with enough power to crush a man, is it the weight of it or what?

Stuff like that needs safety features, even if an event is unlikely it should still have them, im reminded of those silly rotating doors, i once had to use them at an airport in Germany and while trying to leave a kid fell over and would have had his fingers crushed if i hadn't forced it to stop, i got quite angry because those doors felt like a accident waiting to happen with the rate they turned and everyone trying to use them at once, i mean whats wrong with sliding ones? :mad:
 
Looks sorer than a paper cut! God knows how that even managed to happen though. I hope for his sake the platform malfunctioned or something and it wasn't just a case of him being an idiot, ignoring signs and being impatient.

Either way seeing as he is the only American outside of California who is actually thin enough to fit into an 8 inch gap it's pretty unlucky!

I was under the impression it was as he was getting off the train. If the doors had opened before the platform had extended that would make perfect sense and also highlights a major flaw in it.

Also, he is facing the platform. He would have had to turn around the other way if he was getting on a train.

Standing with his back to the train? The more likely situation is that he fell victim to the major flaw in this system which is the possibility of the doors opening before the thing extends.
 
That's surreal to see. Surely you would pass out from the pain or something?

Can't help but wondering how on earth he got into that situation without being a pleb himself.

Regardless, hopefully he's okay after it all.

Does it really matter if he had been drinking? He fell into a hole 8 inches wide, and I don't think anybody, let alone a fully grown American can fit into a gap 8 inches wide, which means it pushed into him, so it isn't his fault.

Got to love how Media like to try and show every bad thing that has ever happened as either the fault of terrorists, or alcoholics.

I find them so annoying purely because it's massively embarressing if they don't open, and you're stood their like a lemon waving your hands around :p

Why don't we, and I know it's a crazy idea, but hear me out...

Why don't we just push doors with the power of our hands! Huzzah! :D

Ah, but then you are going to inevitably push a door that needs to be pulled and you will suffer the embarrassment you were trying to prevent.

I saw that article as well, two things struck me about it.

The colloquial use of the term Cops... sure that's what everybody nicknames them, but surely a journalist would have more credibility if they used the term Police instead.

It also seems like a real throw away comment, no real official statement. Just the opinion of somebody which isn't made clear who it came from.
