Anyone else love this show. Thouhght I start an appreciation thread, could only see on in the tv section, thought we needed a more food orientated one.

New series starts in America June the 1st but can't seem to find anything on uk series.

Season 4: June 2011 - present
On June 1, 2011 at 9PM ET, Travel Channel will present a new season of Man v. Food, entitled Man v. Food Nation. As before, Richman will travel across the US to visit cities known for their interesting eateries. [18] Some of the locales to be featured on Man v. Food Nation include New Haven, Connecticut; Tampa, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; Albuquerque, New Mexico and Harlem, New York City, among other locales. [19]

Anyway main side point, was watching it tonight and he had a jerk chicken baguette with banana ketchup. Wtf, has anyone tried banana ketchup and what the hell does it taste like?

Has anyone done any of the challenges or tried recreating any of the dishes featured?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banana_ketchup

Banana ketchup or banana sauce is a popular Filipino condiment made from mashed banana, sugar, vinegar, and spices. Its natural color is brownish, so it is often dyed red to resemble tomato ketchup. Banana ketchup was made when there was a shortage of tomato ketchup during World War II, due to lack of tomatoes and a comparatively high production of bananas. In the Caribbean, the company Baron Foods Limited manufactures a banana ketchup which is yellow in keeping with the color perception associated with bananas. Baron Foods Grenada facility also makes a variant referred to as "Nutmeg" Banana Ketchup which is a combination of the exotic flavor of nutmegs and the typical banana ketchup flavor.

Flavor and use
Banana ketchup is sweeter than tomato ketchup and is similar in taste to the Indonesian Kecap manis and the Thai sweet chili sauce. In Filipino households, this ubiquitous condiment is used on just about any dish - omelettes (torta), hot dogs, burgers, fries, fish and other meats. Banana ketchup is also a vital and distinct ingredient in Filipino-style spaghetti (sweeter than the traditional Italian spaghetti).[1]
It is exported to countries where there is a considerable Filipino population (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Hong Kong, France, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand).
Filipino food technologist Maria Y. Orosa (1893–1945) is credited with inventing a banana ketchup recipe.[2][3]

One of the best ones on know, Kansas city, so lots of BBQ.

Anyone know the American brisket is? Or what such a cut in uk is called? As it's not the same as ares. Im assuming ares is a part of the full brisket?

Problem is British brisket looks nothing like American brisket. I know brisket is made of two parts and wonder if USA is either both parts, or the other part that we don't commonly have in the uk. Pretty sure the two parts are called fat and point end.

Roll on Sunday

2kilos beef short ribs
2kilos lamb ribs
3.8 kilos pork ribs
1.8 kilos Boerewors Sausages

Now just need to get down homebase and get some webber wood chip chippings for smoking.

But when is it going to be shown?

I still can't find a uk start date.

But there has been adverts on good food channel stating new series for summer and man vs food is on there. I shall assume it must be for the new series and nit just the repeats they are going through ATM.

Found a reverse engineered recipe for the habanero fritters, so want to give this a try.

1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1 tbsp. melted butter
1/4 c. sugar
2 tbsps. ground black pepper
1/4c Garlic powder
1 Tbs cumin
1 onion
30 fresh habaneros 5lbs
2 cups mozzarella
1/2 cup cheddar

Should make 15 ice cream scoops.

Can't find the habanero salsa though, which contains another 30 chilies.

Nope 10lbs per batch, but I don't know how much a batch does.

People seem to think 2 chilies per fritter and you do 5 fritters in the challenge and same quantity in the sauce, so roughly 10 chilies in that as well.

You won't k wo about them unless your local or by chance. I'm sure it's the same when he does shows. He visits like one or two eating comps per state. The rest is just good pig out/BBQ food.

Sutton Arms in Elton apparently does a 200oz steak
And of course this
