does anyone know what a managed service environment is?

i applied for a support job around a month ago and one of the questions they asked was have you provided support to a managed service environment before

i clicked yes :( now they rang me back wishing to discuss the role further

Outside company looks after everything pretty much I think. Place I worked at was a 'managed service environment' RM I think, it sucked. Couldn't do a fat lot, and spent most of my time on the phone to them to fix trivial things.

The term just sounds like customer service wherein you have management.. which would be all customer service jobs?

Or outsourced management maybe.

I get it now

funny thing is i actually have done a 3 month temp job like that in the past

just didnt know it could be called that

It's typically where a third party Managed Service Providor will come into an organisation to take ownership of delivering a set of services or business outcomes. This is a model often used to deliver IT Services to organisations to enable them to concentrate on delivering to their core competencies.
