Managing SSD and HDD?

At the moment I have a 120GB SSD and a 640GB storage drive.

First question is, how do I do a firmware upgrade for my M4? I've heard it can substantially increase performance?

Secondly, does anybody have any tips for managing these? For example, at the moment I'm just installing all my programs to my SSD. This includes a media player, steam, firefox and eventually vent. I'll also be installing my chosen torrent program and microsoft office to it. Then I want to use the remaining space (estimates around 70gb) for games.

My main question is steam and other programs (setpoint, a virus scanner, etc). Most of them seem to want to install to my SSD. How do I move programs to my HDD storage drive without causing conflicts? For example, my storage drive was ripped straight from my old comp and has all my old stuff on there. However, none of it runs without installing it first (presumably due to the registry). Is there a program that can do this? I also would like to move steam games around. I have quite a few already installed on my storage drive and I was just planning on moving them into the appropriate steam folder on my SSD and then moving them back when I don't need them.

Finally, what do you think about putting my music onto my SSD? I currently have 20GB of music and it seems like a bit of a waste... I plan on putting the rest of my documents on there such as word docs etc though. I've never had more than one drive so I'm a little lost at organising it. Any tips?

Programs + My Documents on SSD.

All Media + Downloads on HDD.

Some games (or very large but infrequently used programs) perhaps on SSD (may as well benefit from having an SSD rather than leaving a large chunk empty) but must most on HDD.

There is little reason to have media on an SSD, you don't exactly need to load stuff quickly. I'm pretty sure large video files are streamed off the HDD as even 20GB files load instantly for me.

Also it is upto you if you want the HDD to spin down. Check power options. I personally have my Programs/Games HDD always on, but let Media HDD spin down.
