Hey guys I am led to believe I will recieve a 7300 GT with 256 of DDR3 memory, yes the DDR3 version tomorrow!

At the price I couldn't resist the temptation to buy one up to have a mess around with! If this does indeed turn out to be the DDR3 version then I will purchase a second one to try out the SLi too! Its just something I want to do in the meantime until Direct x 10 cards come out and it wil be fun!
Thats why my x1800xt 512 is now on the members market :( just thinking sell now to avoid bargain basement prices for the card as soon as new ones hit!

Anyways I want to know if anyone will be interested in a full test of the card and also it's performance and overclockability?

I thought someone would....also it cost me a smidge over £60 with next day delivery :D

I will look forward to testing it tomorrow night and also getting a second one if all goes to plan ;)

James I totally am the guinea pig as it better turn out to be ddr 3 ;)

I've had mine for a while now so I thought it might be useful to post my results too (hope you don't mind jrodga2k5 :))

I don't have any gaming benchmarks (other than UT2004 and NFS:MW which I can briefly test if you're desperate) so you'll have to make do with 3d mark;

3d01: 21490
3d03: 11814
3d05: 5361
3d06: 2604

This is with a Sempron 2800 (754) @2.4GHz (for the moment), 1GB of RAM (with sloppy timings), and of course, the 7300GT @600/1600MHz (with VF-900 @5V which, contrary to expectations, is not particularly quiet). Drivers were 84.66 (supposed to be the best for 7300GT, not tried with any others yet).

P.S. jrodga2k5, are you sure the version you bought has 256MB? If you bought it from where I think you bought it, the version for £53 only has 128MB.

P.P.S. I feel I should warn those buying the Inno3D version (that is sold under the value label of the store that stocks them), although reviews, and indeed the store itself show a black PCB, mine has a green PCB, which like, totally ruined my colour scheme :( To be fair though, the stock cooler on mine looks to be better than the one shown on the black PCB version.

THose scores look ok! As for your questions eys its 256mb of ram ;) it says so on the product description! Iv took a risk and hopefully it pays off!

Any pics pogo?

jrodga, who is it made by? The only 256mb DDR3 I have found is £67 although I have found one inno3d card that has been listed as DDR3 for £53 but is actually ddr2.

Raikiri the oen i have found is probably the same as your one.
As i have said I'm taking the plunge just to find out ;) since the user reviews said they got DDR3 ones so I'll take a wee plunge with this to see what happens!

Plus Distance selling act can protect me and I can just return it ;) hehe!

Hi,

Ive just bit the bullet and purchased two of these 7300 cards. Just to add my two cents worth, mine have black pcbs, no external power connector and the best bit (i hope) 256mb of samsung ddr3 ram!

Im waiting for OcUK to send the rest of my system but i hope to seriously push 7600gt speeds very soon...

Not bad (fingers crossed) for a very small outlay - i have also come from the land of 6600gt silent agp.

PS i have decided against going for Conroe, i believe it sounds G*Y - almost as bad as my sig :o

They seem to be too good to be true, if my risk doesnt work tomorro I have a backup to get them from ;)

YEah the zalmans are extremely easy!
Btw guys if my card turns out to be DDR2 iv got a good excuse for sending it back ;) The card is listed as 2xDVI which means it should have two DVI Slots! This what the DDR 3 boards should have! The DDR2 has basic TV out and a 15pin VGA output and one DVI output! So its all pointing to the DDR3 version! lets hope I get a £53 bargain!

Anyways I'm ordering a second one from a different site today! Different manufacturers for the cards dont effect SLi do they? and also SLi bridges? where do i get them :P lol!

Also if you have seen the pics of the Galaxy version of the card I believe that one came with a Zalman VF 700 fan so it should in theory fit!

Mines is on the delivery route so waiting to see if I did strike it lucky :P got the other webpage to buy it from up and waiting if it turns out to be ddr2 after all :P lol!

See Im thinking you could, it takes up just about 2 slots on a mobo, just about, the fan is close enough to the slot below it so it slightly covers the below slot!

This is me talking about my x1800xt with a zalman on it! That took the pci express slot and covered a bit of the pci slot below now realistically if a dual slot caqrd can be put into SLi mode then surely the cards with the zalman coolers on them could 2 ;)

Im gettting really into this card now are you going to try and do the pencil volt mod?

I really feel the cooler needs changing, the fan itself isnt too bad considering its price point - but below that ! OMG naff naff & naff thats the heatsink, the gloop and bracketing. It really needs the zalman or similar.
I have had a quick search around and there are a few sites giving rave reviews however no end users seem to have taken the bait and given it ago! :D

Thanks for the reply jrodga2k5

As i said i will experiment with this card and see what it can reach on stock first then look at fans and voltmodding! if its the correct card then detailed benchmarks wil be provided with an SLi hopefully by the end of the week

so did your card arrive then?

YEs as a ddr 2 version :( oh well back it goes haha :P

It was labelled on the site as having 2xDVI which I can misinterpret to read 2 DVI connectors ;) on the inno 3D products it only comes with 2xDVI connectors on the DDR3 versions so really beacuse there is only one DVI connecter and a standard VGA one I will send it back with them covering postage :D

Anyways the search continues and I am attempting location number 2! Will hopefulyl here something in the next 24 hours! I do have a guaranteed one for next wednesday however when stock arrives ;)

Basically its enhanced architecture on the chip too so in essence the newer technology does perform a lot better!

There was interesting analysis on games and graphics card ram posted in here recently and I cant remember where but it showed the ammount of ram textures in games took up! tbh for the latest games 128mb is definately not enough, when you start playign with high resolution textures which take up more memory your performance will be improved!

So yes 256MB is better than 128MB for certain!

Update, Apparantly the card I purchased is dispatched every saturday and I should have it on Monday or Tuesday of next week :D
Lets keep the fingers crossed that the title 1 x GF 7300GT 256MB DDR3 (P700136) = £63.77

Turns out to be a DDR3 7300GT :P

IF not roll on wednesday!
So hopefully the saga will end soon!

*EDIT* INTERESTING TO NOTE

http://www.trustedreviews.com/article.aspx?page=7222&head=0

check this review from trusted reviews! They managed to SLi a 7300GT and a 7600GT together using Riva Tuner :D tricking the 7300gt into reading as a 7600gt and then clocking it to the same speeds as the 7600gt! Seems pretty good but its just something cool I thought I'd point out!

This is one of the main reviews i noted before i purchased! Like i said in my first post mine shipped with the black 7600gt pcb and fingers crossed - more potent samsung ddr3 ram. Im in the middle of building my rig now, still need clarity on whether two zalmans will fit and run sli on a dfi expert board though!!??!?!

Anyway fingers crossed, it may whoop the 7600gt's arse proper Bo' style !!!

P.S i am quite old, just thought id add that in LOL :(

It should run in SLi with two Zalman's Im fairly certain of that!

remember a 6800ultra gets around the same score. so its an amazing price/performance card. deffo worth the money for budget gaming.

Exactly, without a doubt its great value for money :P
Hmmmmmmmm the place I bought it from is now out of stock! So hopefulyl my dispatch email comes through tomorrow :D
I bet someone decided to try what I just did too! :P

That 7300GT gets more in 3Dmark than my X800GTO  I'm really starting to think about getting 2 7300GTs instead of an X1800XT...

It cant really touch the XT other than in Artificial benchmarks like 3d mark 05,06 which the GT in SLi will beat an x1800xt!

I hope its the DDR3 version too this time but the product is labelled that! Im just more hopeful that the thing actually gets dispatched as I dont trust this site one bit haha :P

Come on Gibbo get the 7300GT with 256MB DDR 3 Ram in now :P you know it makes sence!

Jrodga, I may order the card from the same store as you first ordered from ;) Because 2 of the reviews there said that it came with GDDR3 RAM, so I think its just a risk. Can't you ask for an upgrade, because the other site you ordered from has a much high price increase, but I'm unsure wether I'd get the DDR3 version :(

Dont risk it man, i did turned out to be DDR2 :( anyways IM keeping this card for the moment while I wait on the DDR3 coming then il sell the DDR2 one on the bay as new ;)
Plus it runs Bfme2 on Ultra so thats fine for me the now so i can keep playign my clanwars games :P
