From LEA to Children's Services - why?
The former Education Department (also known as the Local Education Authority or LEA) and the Children, Families and Social Care Department for children have been merged into the Children's Services Department. This has been done by councils nationwide to enable local authorities to better focus their services on delivering the best outcomes for children in Manchester.
