Ok people I am calling on the collective expertise (of those who know and love Manchester) to spec me somewhere to live in Manchester.

I've been offered a good job with a company who have a principal office in Manchester so will be taking up the post at the beginning of November. I'm currently residing in Edinburgh so will be selling up lock stock and moving down within the next 6 months.

I think i'll probably rent for 6 months to a year so am looking for ideas where i should hunt for property. I'll be based out of an office in the Didsbury area so its South Manchester.

I don't require easy access to ladies of loose virtue whose services can be purchased after dusk.:p

Oh, I dont know anyone in Manchester so recommendations for things to do and see would be great.

Thanks for any advice!

Worsley, salford really but only 15 mins from town on the mway.

nvm just seen you are working in didsbury, worsley is north manchester so would have been a little trek.

The only problem with didsbury is public transport is a bit rubbish. Other than that it's a good place to live. If you are working there anyway it might not be such an issue

From what I remember the buses were pretty good in Didsbury, good getting into Manc...or if you need to, into Stockport.

Rusholme if you like curry. :) But the Great Khatmandu in Didsbury is good.

Yes, Didsbury is nice but slightly expensive

Didsbury is a nice area. Withington/Fallowfield/Chorlton are okay'ish and near to where you want to work. Chorlton Green was more of an affluent area and is worth checking out.

Compared to where?
Between East and West they have the vast majority of the busses which go down oxford rd (busiest bus route in europe, or it was at any rate)
East has the train as well and both will soon have a tram to chorlton.
It is pretty much the best served area of Manchester, hence my confusion as to why you think it's rubbish...
