Hello all i've just installed Mandriva but i'm having problems playing some video files from the likes of Rev3 which i've downloaded and keep getting a popup saying Totem requiers Mpeg-4 AAC

I've tried adding the repositories using Smart-urpmi Link plus tried logging as root and running the command with terminal too get the necessary codecs to show up as Mandriva should show me paid for and free in options and all i get is Fluendo

Hope theres a easy fix as i'm a nood when it comes to linux and after trying most distros i want to stick with Mandriva plus don't want to install other software players like Mplayer

If you have an aac lib installed (faac, libfaac) then it's probably just a failure to identify what codec you're actually missing. Ubuntu does this too. Installing the ffmpeg package is usually enough for all videos these days. As long as it's compiled with the so called risky settings.

Also try installing the good, bad & ugly gstreamer packages.
Failing that use VLC or XBMC for movies. They're both better than Totem.

Finally got it working with smart urpmi download the file and allowed executing file as program which add the repositories so free stuff turns up in options

True there are better video players for linux but want to keep everything simple and just run software which came with Mandriva
