Manor Motorsport MM01 *** 2015 Launch Thread

I think they should poach Carmen Jorda, she seems very highly regarded by her peers :p

They got her confused with Maria de Villota, who is a better driver dead than Jorda is alive.

It'll be a pay driver, obviously, so it depends who brings money to the table. Possibly a Ferrari development driver, possibly K-Mags, and as an outside longshot Suzie Wolff.

Well that's Chilton out of the picture...

Ex-F1 racer Max Chilton to race for Nissan in LMP1 this year

Ex-Formula 1 driver Max Chilton will race the new Nissan GT-R LM NISMO in the World Endurance Championship this season.

The 23-year-old Briton, who raced for Marussia in 2013-14, has landed a full-season drive and fills the final spot in Nissan's two-car LMP1 squad for the start of the season.

Another British driver on the grid too!

I wonder what colours they will run in? I assume black, red and white simply to avoid the cost of repainting everything.

I think they can only afford to have the one car, maybe that's why no second driver announcement. I can't remember the rules regarding how late they can leave to say who has the second seat and whether the start of the season is different to single race driver announcements anyway...

I think they have to nominate two cars, the Russian GP had Rossi announced for it after Jules' accident but was withdrawn as a tribute to Jules.

In theory I think they have up to the end of FP1 to announce a 2nd driver in the 2nd car...

Yes the rules stipulate they need to enter 2 cars. So they need to produce 2 chassis and put them through scrutineering. Who drives them is a different matter, but they can't simply not enter a second driver, as they would fall foul of the rule about competing to the best of their ability.

Parc ferme kicks in from before FP3 on Saturday morning this year, so I assume that's the deadline for entering a driver?

So Caterham crowd fund a holiday to Abu Dhabi for the administrators and become universally disliked by the whole F1 fan base, while Marussia go back to base, keep quiet, sort themselves out, and become fan favourates.

Its going to be a struggle for them to complete a lap, but when they do I hope the crowd congratulate them. They have a desire to race for the love of racing that a lot of teams on the grid have lost.
