Hi guys,

As far as I am aware there is nothing "dodgy" in what I'm trying to do but if there are any problems with it I will understand if the thread gets deleted.

I have a legit version of windows XP home. I will be attempting to reformat my PC within the next week or so.

Basically I have read if I go in to "windows/system32" and copy wpa.dbl and wpa.bak, when I have reformatted the drive I can copy these 2 folders back in to the relevant place and it will save me from having to contact Microsoft.

My problem is I don't have "wpa.bak" on my system  I couldn't find it in the folder it was supposed to be in and I have searched "C" drive but to no avail.

Any ideas......or will I just have to contact Microsoft?

Cheers.

Just reactivate by phone, it's a lot easier then trying to import activation files. I've tried doing it myself with only limited success anyway.

Cheers Burnsy. Is it possible to reactivate over the internet? I would still have the 30days to reactive I presume?

If I have to phone, I'll phone but it normally ends in tears.......a North or Ireland accent Vs an Indian accent can be a very harrowing experience!! :D

I wouldn't worry. I must have activated Windows XP Home about 20 times in total.

Most times it would do it over the internet immediately and once or twice I had to use the automated phone system.

Ah right. Cheers mate.

Thanks lads for the replies, I'll get it sorted one way or the other :)
