I get the impression the op is looking at this from the pov of a manager who has never actually done the job and thinks he knows best, rather than taking advice from people who have actual experience of being on the road..

I've done deliveries for a number of takeaways in my town and I know my area well. I wouldn't do deliveries for takeaways 10 miles away as I wouldn't know their patch and would just make the job hard and it would suck.
I think i've explained this really badly - this is essentially what I want one huge map to have in the shop I wouldn't expect the drivers to carry a map! (Thanks Mynight helpful as usual) When we hand over the deliveries they would take a quick look if they weren't completely sure where it was. I know what everyone is saying and gps/looking at a pc is fine but when it's really busy it'a hectic and this is just the most convenient i've found.
I like the idea of this! But I always assumed I would need some sort of expensive GPS tracking system i'll have to try and find some software/company who track mobile phones. I don't distrust the drivers but sometimes one of the front of house may consider going out on deliveries if the drivers aren't back but if I can tell where they are and if they'll be back soon I wouldn't have to be short staffed in house when the driver is just about to arrive.

Once again i've explained it badly - there are grid references next to the street names that correspond to a number.
Apologies I thought ordinance survey would cover that for you. The tourist map I described was the sort of one you'd find at a lay-by in a giant acrylic signpost. On the right and left hand side there are all the street names in A-Z with their corresponding grid reference. Between the left and right is the actual map with a 6x6 grid so the street names can be narrowed down to a half mile wide area with the current location shown as well for navigation. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a freebie version of your area.
This wouldn't be too hard at all but would be incredibly draining on the battery. Really depends on how often you want it updated. I've been designing a similar app for another reason. I'll see if I can modify it to your uses(time permitting that is).
