I'm traveling a lot with work, getting to see some different places and places that are handy.

It's more something too do with the kids and show them but is there a website I can enter my details of locations to where I've been or am I better off getting a map, corkboard and pins from WHSmith's and going old-school?

I've never ever had location turned on after I got the phone, it's always been off. Truth be told my GPS has never work after I dropped it just after I got the thing 6 months ago. Not a bad result.

This is why I said a website to get away from using my phone, I can tell you exactly where I have been
 
You can add custom pins on Google Maps on the web which can then be seen on Google Maps mobile app. Simples.
 
Facebook. Places you've tagged in, pictures etc or manually add it.

Although i do want a giant wall poster, but would need a much bigger house, to get any detail map would need to be huge. Perhaps I should just go for a normal giant poster and less detail.

1. Buy an android phone
2. hang head in shame for owning an iphone
 
Using a laptop you can just do it on google mapps I'm sure you can save custom maps off.

Best way I can think of really though is to take a picture in each place on your phone with gps enabled then you can display a world map with the pictures tagged to your location.

As a final suggestion, picture in each location tagged in a flickr account you use just for this then you would have a world map accessible from any device with a picture tagged to each location you've visited.

Paint your walls white and get a projector. Then you can have a map on the wall with however much detail you like :)
