Marathon & Gymming

I currently Gym three times a week (im 19) and making fair progress, not the best as i dont follow the diet properly on days i dont work out, and not so well on days i do, being at university and all. But the opportunity to run the Paris marathon has come up as two of my house mates are running it.
Now i really like the idea of achieving it, but want to know if i will have to sacrifice any more gains or mass i have already built up, and want to know if marathon training (3 runs a week) adn my workouts and asociated muscle can happen at the same time?
 
steve redgrave runs marathons and hes still rather large and getting old now.
will you sacrifice something, of course you will. you will have to train completely differently to prepare for a marathon and your diet will be a lot different i would imagine.
