Welp, I don't suppose I'll be getting much sleep tonight then :/
It's back. Be afraid. Be very afraid
e : Seek raised a really good point below. Although it's the second season, the entire story can be viewed by using the selection picker on the right of this screen. It's not a long series, with each 'film' being between 2 and 4 minutes in length generally, but viewing from the beginning will make a huge difference to your understanding of what's going on.
It IS a slow burner for the first few episodes but then **** gets real, real fast
It's not about blood and guts so is GD safe.
mods - this is an ARG, not a movie, so hopefully fits in to this forum better than another one
Copy/pasta'd with permission from the SA forums. I'm not an active participant in this ARG and have no creative input to it whatsoever so don't ask me what happens next. I've no idea. This is purely to put it out there and see if it attracts the same attention it has on other forums
Marble Hornets Season 2
Do you hate sleep? Abhor being able to walk into a dark room or peek out of your window without fear? Are you a devotee of crackpot theories, willing and able to sperg out over the most mundane of minutiae? Is your favorite emoticon [removed]? Well, you’re in luck, because your ship just came in! What the gently caress is a Marble Hornet?
Glad you asked, because I was going to tell you anyway. Several years ago, a film student named Alex began shooting a movie: Marble Hornets. The project was a bit of a train wreck, but the cast and crew gamely soldiered on. Alex became more and more unreasonable as time went by, until one day he abruptly canceled the film and left town with no explanation. His friend Jay caught up with him before he left, and convinced Alex to leave the raw footage with him. Strangely, Alex wanted to literally burn the tapes, but in the end left them with Jay.
Recently, Jay found the old tapes and decided to watch them. Right away, it was clear Alex had caught a lot more than the action of Marble Hornets on camera. Apparently the writing, acting, casting, location selection, costuming, directing, lighting, sound design and editing weren’t the only atrocities committed during the making of the film...
Alarmed and confused, Jay started posting the videos on YouTube to document the bizarre things he was seeing. The more he watched, the deeper he was sucked into the mystery, until finally he became part of it himself.
The original Marble Hornets thread can be found in the SA forums, in all its 220+ page glory.
Gnarly, bro. How do I check this out?
Because it’s a true story, Marble Hornets isn’t straightforward like prepackaged Hollywood schlock. There are a few different sources to keep tabs on:
Marble Hornets’ YouTube Channel - This is Jay’s YouTube channel, where the meat of the story takes place. “Introduction” is the first video.
@MarbleHornets on Twitter - Jay posts here, too. Includes links to new entries as well as smaller messages that don’t warrant a full video.
totheark’s YouTube Channel - A mysterious YouTube user began posting video responses to Jay’s entries. It is unclear who he/she is or what his/her motives may be. Whoever it is is kind of a dick.
You’ll notice a few weird entries on Jay’s accounts that he didn’t post himself. He probably picked a really stupid password like 12345 and got hacked .
Season 1 Spoilers Ahead
Characters as of Entry #26
Jay is the narrator and protagonist of the story. Originally a friend of Alex (see below) and a collaborator on Marble Hornets, they had a falling out and haven’t seen each other in years. The main plotline revolves around finding out what happened to Alex.
Alex Kralie wrote and directed the Marble Hornets student film. Throughout production, he became increasingly irritable and distracted. This finally came to a head when he abruptly stopped work on Marble Hornets and moved away, leaving no forwarding address. He left the raw footage with Jay, who only recently reviewed it for old times’ sake and uncovered some...unexpected surprises. His location and status are unknown; as of Entry #26 he was alive but in imminent danger.
Tim was an actor in Marble Hornets. He still lives in the area and has been interviewed by Jay, though he was extremely reluctant to talk about anything relating to Alex or Marble Hornets.
Brian is another actor from Marble Hornets. He has not figured prominently in the story so far, although Alex did move in with him when he became too paranoid to stay in his own home. Brian’s whereabouts are unknown.
Seth is the cameraman for Marble Hornets. Disturbingly, he has not been seen or heard from since venturing into an abandoned building with Alex in one of the season 1 entries.
Sarah is yet another bit player from the original Marble Hornets who has not factored into Jay’s investigation. Nothing is known about her location or condition.
Amy is Alex's girlfriend at the end of Season 1 and only appears in Entry 26. She unintentionally puts them both in severe danger, and it's not clear if she survived.
“Masky” begins to torment Jay after he visits Alex and Brian’s seemingly abandoned home. He appears to possess supernatural powers, and his identity, relationship to Jay and the totheark YouTube channel are a subject of endless debate. He looks like this :
![]()
The Operator is the driving force behind Alex’s paranoia and disappearance. Little is known about him or his motives. The Operator is strikingly similar to a mythical being known only as the “Slender Man”, documented in this thread. Look for posts by Victor Surge. Sadly much of the photographic evidence has been lost with the passage of time.
Spergin Central
• Who is “Masky”, and is there more than one? Prime suspect is Tim.
• Who is totheark? Suspects include Tim, Seth, Alex and even a brainwashed Jay himself.
• Who is The Operator and what are his motives?
• What happened to Seth, Brian and Sarah?
• What’s up with the time travel, teleporting and electronic distortion?
• What’s with the references to fire and water?
• Why does Tim have a chronic cough and pop pills like it's his job?
• WHEN IS THE NEXT ENTRY BEING POSTED
Sweet dreams!
