Marc-Vivien Foe

i dont follow football at all but i heard this on the radio also...how terrible :(

its amazing isnt it, one minuite you can be running around fit as a fiddle, and the next min, your dead :(

RIP :(

really rather saddened by this, a young man in his prime and especially foe one of the fittest breeds of players as most of the africans are, cut down by suspected heart problems on what was a very hot day.

quite worrying makes you worry anout your own lack of fitness and mortality, really hope if the final goes ahead that cameroon hammer france and lift the trophy in foe's honour and dedicate iit to himself, a big loss to the footballing world!

i hope they can at least find a reason for the sake of his families peace of mind, and i sure everyones thoughts are with them...

I couldnt believe it too, I was waiting for my mother...we were going to the Trafford Centre, and I was stood watching Norht West Granada Tonight, and the presenter was talking about Foe's spell at Man City and the fact they are after him to come back....

Goto the Trafford Centre, getting measured for a suit...and then the guys from the till starting telling their co-workers that he collapsed and died?

:(

One minute they were on TV talking about a transfer, 30 mins later he's dead?....

Saw it on Sky Sports when I got back, and I must say that has to be the first for football? some dying on the pitch...live on TV.

RIP.

this is very sad indeed, he will be missed by a great many people...from what i have read he was one really nice guy who never forgot the people who helped him get where he did.

I wonder if it was a heart attack or it was an error with the club(s) medical staff....Just like Kanu where both the Ajax and Inter Staff missed it at first.
either way Football has lost a really great guy and influencial footballer...

RIP Marc

just read in the paper...they now think it might have something to do with him having Malaria a couple of years back

That really is quite shocking :( I thought when I opened this thread it was a transfer rumour for Arsenal or something with Jazz creating it, but that really is sad.

Its amazing that you can have a heart attack when you are 28 years old and as fit a player as Foe was. I am speechless. I was out all yesterday so I have only just found it out this moment on here :(

Terrible....

:(

A small story posted on another forum....

In April, after training one day, Ste (my mate) had his lunch with Marc in the canteen...Marc had his new Merc delivered about two weeks before...Ste commented on how nice his wheels were, and Marc asked him if he wanted to swap for a few days.....Now Ste drives a Clio, bless him!!!

Embarassed, young Ste declined...But Marc wasnt having any of it...Off they went to the car park...and duly swapped keys...Marc asked him which his was amongst the Mercs, BMW's, Audi's etc and Ste pointed him towards his little Clio...Obviously expecting him to decline the swap at that point, Ste was shocked when Marc seemed overjoyed....In he jumped and off he went...

Ste had to drive round in his top of the range Merc for the next three days...Whilst Marc was turing into work in a Clio...Much to the delight of his mickey taking team mates!!!!

On gaining his car back, he noted that the seat was as far back as it would go!!!!

Gives a small insight into the kind of man he was.

RIP.

although i didnt particularly know him (im not even that big a football fan) what ive been reading is really quite sad, it just puts things in perspective.
RIP :(

Blatter says the final will go ahead.

The Cameroon players were asked if they wanted to play the game & they all said yes. They will all be wearing his name on their shirts & there will be no entertainment before or after the match. FIFA should donate all the proceeds from the game to a memorial fund. Man City have 'retired' the No.23 shirt & it would also be nice to see them & West Ham play a benefit match, with all proceeds going to his family.
The pictures in the papers today (esp. The Sun) were disgraceful:(

Edit: Most of the above is covered in Cem's links, which I've just read...

I think the sun must have had some complaints, as I'm sure there were some pics on their site that aren't there any more.

Blatter said the game was going ahead before the Cameroonean players were asked. Gonna be difficult for both sets of players. Very emotional.

Talk of naming the next competition after him. The Foe Cup.

Not been on here in a while, but as soon as i heard this morning, thought i'd come on and have a read at everyones replies. This is one of those things that is soo strange its just untrue. Cant get my head round how it happened. Just shocking to see it happen.

At first i thought maybe it has something to do with the heat? but hes an African player surely used to such heat, really doesnt make much sense.

Very sad.
