I sell a lot in the MM and very often offer stuff stupidly cheap or give it away for the community to enjoy and get use out of. If there wasn't the tight policing that there is and the community around the MM then I simply wouldn't do it. The MM is great and the way that it is moderated is also very good. Change any of these things and I am pretty sure it would be much less successful.

I always preferred the notion of the high post count requirement being that it evidenced that you'd added to the community, rather than being a risk mitigator for the post/run/abandon forum types.

It'll work out, Mike 702 :)

You can't use the MM in the upside down part of the world though?

I actually don't know, I never used MM when in the UK and haven't tried in 10 years over here either! Most items would cost more in postage/insurance than their worth lol.

e: my comment was more a general view on why I think the requirements are good for the forum and OCUK brand rather than why they are good for me, if that helps clarify.

You're banned from the MM.

I get that people want people they can trust when they buy and sell and its a great part of the MM but the rare occasion I've had an issue I've RMA'ed it myself or returned it no problem. If I need peace of mind I purchase brand new.

I rarely upgrade and guess I'm one of the lucky ones as I only had a couple of major problems with buying over the years, one was a guy who purchased a job lot of graphics cards and I was basically his tester to see if they worked.

Regarding the 15 post limit
I had the limit because a new member
Like you said its a real nuisance if you are in the middle of helping someone then suddenly you can't reply
I understand its to stop new members bot spamming
But would have lasted for 30 days
The moderators were extremely helpful to me with this and resolved it for me
So if the 15 posts limit is a total pain perhaps contact a moderator
I assume they looked through my posts to make sure I wasn't posting load of rubbish before helping
They were very persistent trying a few different things until they got me sorted
Which I am very grateful for.
Is this a poem?

The whole point of the restrictions is that bans or suspensions from the MM need to mean something as it's the only real sanction to keep both buyers and sellers safe. That means members need to value their accounts. The post restrictions means people need to work to meet the requirements, and that work helps them to value their account and give the sanctions meaningful teeth.

It's supposed to be long and difficult process, that exactly the whole point and a key reason why the MM is as successful as it is. Well that and the decent moderation the MM has.

Ps can see you are not a new member but already forgot the other criteria ~brain like a seive lately~it may be your post count

Why do you put everything on a separate line? :p

I have to say I'm split on this one, I think having a minimum post count and time on the forum is useful, but perhaps the minimums are a little on the harsh side, myself as an example just over 5 years and I don't qualify which does seem a tad restrictive. If I may make a suggestion, it might be worth reviewing transactions on the MM that didn't go well and seeing if the number of posts / length of being a member directly correlates - it might be for example that lower minimums might have the same effect as the 180 days + 1000 posts - just a thought.
