Marussia car crashed during testing

Maria de Villota was set to be testing today... would not give a good rep to the 'women in F1' idea if this was the case....

The test driver is Maria De Vollita, but as the article states 'he' was hurt, I'm assuming its one of the race drivers who was in the car?

BBC webpage updated
"BBC Cambridgeshire presenter Chris Mann, who witnessed the crash, said the car had completed a circuit
when it "suddenly accelerated" into the back of the lorry" :(

The update is slightly scary news, hopefully it didn't go underneath the back of the lorry.

Driving into a lorry at any speed in an open topped F1 car isn't going to be good. We are used to drivers surviving horrendous crashes but that is on tracks with specially designed barriers to absorb the force. Lorries are heavy, solid and have sharp corners and lumps sticking out. Add to that the speed an F1 car does even when going slow :(

Just hope it isn't as bad as it sounds.

Don't like the bit which says she is believed to be "seriously injured".

What a **** up though by the sounds of it.

There are 2 female test drivers this year, Suzie Wolff is Williams' test driver.

There have been a number of female F1 drivers in the past, and a few who raced. 1 scored half a point.
