Marussia to exit administration on February 19th..

But why even bother. They've sold off all their assets and have done zero testing this year. I'd rather see them take a break and be back in 2016 rather than traffic at the back of the grid

Actually the auction didn't happen so they still have a good amount of their stuff. Although I thought the factory was bought by the American team whose name currently escapes me. A tie up with them perhaps?

Why couldn't they did up some decomposing former F1 drivers like Rubens and Nick Heidfeld?

opposite for Caterham it seems, remaining assets placed up for sale. So any interested party has probably given up any hope of trying to get them going again. Does the Marussia getting their 30mil constructors money effect how much Caterham would get, probably, meaning since that decision Caterham just got even less financially viable or more expensive for a new owner.

The prize money doesn't exist. Its paid out a year in arrears, so to get the 2014 prize money they have to be in F1 at the end of 2015.

The shameful thing in the way f1 is set up is that when a team fails, it's all their suppliers who take the hit. The f1 team just stops existing and all you are left with is a load of suppliers and former employees owed money for work they did properly. Money that should be paid to them from 'prize' money. Although as said earlier it's not really prize money, it's more of an appearance bonus paid to teams who were successful the previous year.
But the way this is set up and the way teams fail means that it will always be the suppliers who take the hit when a team goes under
