Marvel Heroes

The Winter ********** have been turned off until Monday when Gaz can review the drop rate. I can't say I'm surprised - on several occasions I got three from one trash pack. Because of this they will be dropping for a full additional week, though.

Allegedly he was gone a couple of weeks after Doomsaw and Amthua were ****canned a few months back but they held off releasing the news until his new studio was set up.

Jeff Donais wasn't sacked. He was brought in as a contractor to turn the game around; having done so, he left for other projects.

Brevik wasn't sacked either, I don't think. He seems to have left amicably enough, so he was probably working his notice.

In game news: Ryolnir has sort of slipped that there will only be eight new heroes in 2016 (excluding Black Cat, who is a delayed 2015 release) as they want to work more on new content. It's a good call if true.

Advance Pack 3 hit the website store last night, and I was wrong - the eight heroes for 2016 includes Black Cat. The new characters will be (in assumed order):

Green Goblin
Elektra
Nick Fury
Ultron
Angela
Black Bolt
[TBA]

There will also be four new Team-Ups including Miles Morales (AKA Ultimate Spider-Man) and Kamala Khan. Basic pack is $60 and gives all seven heroes with their Stash tabs, all four Team-Ups and seven Cosmic Penta Boosts; Deluxe is $80 and adds another seven Cosmic Pentas, alternate launch costumes for all heroes and early access to Spiderman's Iron Spider costume (which is annoying, as I already can't choose between Spider-Girl, Spider-Man Noir and Battle Damaged Spider-Man).

Next event is Odin's Bounty, with Danger Room in the rotation. Grey/green scenarios will drop one Bounty Chest at the end, blues drop two, purples three and Cosmics four. Start levelling that level 80 Shield of Perseus.

really enjoying this again, just prestiged wolverine and lvl 60'ed cable, so much to do with so many heroes

who to lvl next, Blade or iron fist or maybe spidey!

I'll most likely buy the Advance Pack 3.

But going to hold off for a bit before I do. I've just lost a lot of trust in the game. With it's lack of updates to game modes and story content.

Releasing a new hero every month really wasn't the content I was happy with.

Whelp, first time I don't buy the advanced pack, only interested in Fury and (possibly Blackbolt) with the rest of the heroes run from "not my style" (Elektra) to "why the hell would anyone even consider including them". (Goblin, and it's already confirmed to be Norman not the one heroic Green Goblin, Ultron, and Angela. Not sure why she won that poll when her legal history is about the only thing that's interesting about her)

For such a small pack they really needed to hit some of the remaining big hitters and they totally missed the mark imo.

There's one more thing that interests nerds about Angela. Two, technically.

The 2016 rebrand finally goes live this week. Deadpool 52 review (and apparently he's crazy good), Chapter 10 of the story, Skrull Invasion Fortune Cards, nine new costumes (all crap), and possibly a rise in the Omega cap or a new tree.

Black Cat is in a sorry state and has been delayed another week for fixing.

Time to pull this back from the dead now the holiday is over. Since last we spoke:

Black Cat was released in a bad way but has been revised post-launch into something passable.

Deadpool has finally had his 52 review. He no longer uses resources for any ability and is downright awesome.

The Omega cap has been raised to 10k and a new tree has been unlocked.

Green Goblin has been released and is actually good, if a little squishy. For extra fun, use the Spider-Gwen team-up with him.

Glinting Einherjar Brooch can now be bought from the Lower Asgard vendor. It's a top 4 or top 5 artefact for most melee characters, so fill your boots.

Chapter 10 is short, fun and features pretty good loot plus 3 more skill points. Cosmic Hightown is wall to wall loot with a unique dropping from every boss. If you want that achievement for collecting 10,000 uniques, it's the place to be.

Upcoming news:

Elektra is about to hit TC. Her primary resource mechanic is Stamina in place of Spirit, which will spend and regenerate very quickly. She also has a secondary resource called Marked For Death, which stores five charges and grants powerful bonuses to certain attacks when used against bosses or elites.

Daredevil is getting a comprehensive review to change his resource management and remove a lot of the clunk. He's borrowing Elektra's Stamina mechanic, so they'll play in somewhat similar ways.

Still not interested in Elektra in the least but I might dust off Daredevil when that hits live, never really liked playing as him but somehow he's ended up with decent gear, sounds a good time to try a green prestige on him and see if he clicks any better for me.

If you log in this weekend and don't own Daredevil you will get him for free. There will also be a 200% XP buff and an event where you can get unique visual artifacts, plus there will be prizes for killing the most Hand ninjas with Daredevil.

Elektra is going live 1st April, her alt costume is TV series. At the same time Daredevil and Punisher will get TV series alt costumes as well. I'm tempted by Punisher, even though I own his Enhanced.

The only other news I have is that Cap is getting his American Dream Enhanced costume finally.

Hmm do like the Daredevil rework, used the specialisation to lose combo points and put all the finishers on more traditional cooldowns and it works grand for me.

Like the ninja event as well (although given they're giving bonus XP to Cage, Punisher and Iron First as well I'd have preferred if their kills were counted too), especially since somehow yesterday I got issued first place rewards and got the visual artifacts so any currency I work up from here on out goes for Crimson boxes.

Elektra is out. She's clunky and super-squishy until the mid-30s, upon which she becomes a monstrous killing machine who can stay permanently stealthed.

Danger Room Challenges have begun, with epic and cosmic variants. Rewards for top 10% include multiple visual artifacts and a nice wad of Merits. Buy the scenarios from the vendor in Danger Room. This week's challenge has the Test that locks down movement powers, so don't take Juggernaut, Elektra, Surfer or Kitty. Rogue and mental Cable are both good, and I've heard the top time is Blade.

I've got top 10‰ on both challenges at the minute using Rocket (about 3 minutes on epic and nearer 4 for the cosmic iirc) , it's a little frustrating to have burrow on a cool down since its also the standard rocket panic button but when you do get there between massed turrets, groot and proc summons everything dies pretty quick.

Hmm, so the leaderboard was misreporting and my times aren't nearly as good as I thought :(

My current best times put me top 20% on the epic one and top 30% on the Cosmic one and I really think it's as good as I'm going to get on any of my current mains. time to start gearing someone who specialises in massive single target damage of next round.
