*** Marvel Phase 4 Official Thread! ***

My lack of excitement is down to me being a comic book fan and even though I know who the characters are, the new lineup still seems to be lacking somehow!

My least favourite movies so far have been Black Panther and Captain Marvel and so sequels for both isn't exactly stoking my fire!

I hope I'm wrong and the new storylines are as good or better than the first few phases but as of now I have my doubts!

I'm incredibly excited for the Hawkeye show, if the logo is anything to go by, it'll hopefully follow a similar theme as the Fraction/Aja 2012 run of Hawkeye comics which was great.

I've got mixed feelings.

The announcement? Underwhelming. The Disney+ shows had already been announced. Black Widow, The Eternal and Shang-Chi weren't exactly a secret. The Doctor Strange sequel was inevitable. The only real surprise is Thor 4 with Natalie Portman in the title role.

Blade is a nice surprise. Mixed feelings on Ali here too though. As another has said, it's like replacing Jackman as Wolverine. Plus, Ali is quite a slim chap, without Snipes' martial arts background.

But I can see why Snipes isn't returning. Ten years ago, he might have been under consideration (if he hadn't decided to dodge taxes). But now he's simply too old for the project, given its not set to start until the middle of next decade. I suspect that's why he's been cool about it; the timing isn't right for him, for a project that will likely span 5-10 years from its launch in 2023-2025.

Bit disappointed the bloke who directed Ragnarok is doing Thor 4. The forced "humour" did nothing for me. Unfortunately I happened to go to the cinema on a day where it was populated by goons who were lapping it up. :/

edit: couldn't care less about the Natalie Portman thing. I'll just enjoy watching the fallout... :p

It's the best reviewed Thor movie and also had the largest box office.

I thought it was excellent. Chris Hemsworth is great in a more comedic role.

I doubt it will be quite so simple as that.
Probably not. She's Mighty Thor which is a story from one of the comics. If she's an additional Thor in a spinoff or just a character in one film then I may be interested. But if it's another SJW character replacement then I'm not interested.

Agree.
Even these look like they are going a bit weird.
For me the big issue Marvel have, is they’ve lost the big charismatic actors. Only ones left are Chris Hemsworth and Tom Holland, plus GotG as a group. As much as I like Benedict C. he’s yet to grab me as Dr Strange.

Brie Larson was jarring as Captain Marvel and Bosewick was easily outshone by the bad guys in his solo film. There’s also a big lack of A or even B list stars in the upcoming films, though I guess just being Marvel is good enough to get crowds in.

I'm really looking forward to the new Dr Strange, a 'horror' movie of sorts could be very interesting.

Marvel films have become very safe. Not really surprising considering how much money is at stake. Go re-watch IM1 and see how edgy and at times vicious Tony is. Compare that to more recent films.
