Marvel Phase 4

I don't think phase 4 is for me sadly so, for me at least, End Game really was the end to a mostly enjoyable franchise.

I hope the left overs like GotG3 and Strange 2 do well but nothing in the new stuff makes me feel even a tiny bit excited.

I thought that about Iron man, Thor, Black Panther etc. I didn't know much if anything about any of them when their first respective film came out. Loki was a character I didnt like from the get go, but after repeat viewings of films with him I got to really like him, much like other characters throughout the phases. I think we will have to trust the guys at Marvel to pull of another scale story like what we had before. The way Thanos was introduced, mentioned in name first, then a small few seconds in a mid credit scene.... Its all part of the bigger picture. I trust Marvel. true it will take some beating..

I enjoyed Dr Strange and Antman movies! Haven't seen Black Panther and not really interested in Black Widow.

GotG2 was a bit lame (but looked beautiful!) so looking forward to 3.

I think leftovers is quite harsh!! I think the current stuff is fantastic and it's a great way to carry on after the incredible feat of Endgame. are you not even excited by projects that use characters from previous phases?

I used "Leftovers" in the respect that they are the only top tier characters/brands (to me anyway) left remaining at the end of End Game for me. However I don't hold out any hope for GotG 3, Thor 4 and Strange 2 being what I would like to see despite hoping they are generally successful, infact I'd love to be wrong and that they turn out to be very enjoyable to me but none of the other mid/low tier characters (again, to me) from pre-End Game like Antman, Cpt Marvel, Spidey etc have me that excited to see them again.

Ah I see! I still think that's a shame but I get what you mean. I'm not sure about GOTG too because I'm not sure where their story will go now without Thanos but I'm sure it'll keep us gripped. I'm really excited for Thor but I hope they don't make it weird/odd with Natalie Portman! And Strange 2 I'm just excited to see more of Wanda because her powers are so cool and I think it will unlock the new big baddie! But I'm hoping they don't go full on multiverse because I'm not sure my brain could take it!

GOTG have the whole galaxy to explore, surely they have the most places for their story to go?

In theory, yes but GotG2 was a really weak effort compared to the first and was very much style over substance. I am largely indifferent to most of the new Marvel stuff but who knows, once they have come out and we start watching them we might be more invested.

Black widow should be good
Thor Love and Thunder should be good
Loki series should be good

Not that bothered about GotG3 unless they fix the issues the second one has. The characters became a parody of themselves far too quickly. Black Panther 2 could go either way. First was massively overrated so we will see. Dr Strange 2, who knows, first was alright but nothing special.

They have just lost almost all of their lynchpins so we don't know how it will be going forwards.

Those lynchpins were mostly unknown actors 10 years ago, and the Characters were mostly B sides back then.

Downey was famous, mostly for the wrong reasons, but it's not like he was a mega star

I didn't mean actors, I meant characters. Most of that IP was grade A stuff. Thor, Iron man, Hulk, Captain America, Spiderman. They brought in some second tier characters as part of the Avengers stuff before broadening their case but you only have to look at a film like end game to see how much people value the characters. It was an OK film but people raved about it because it was the finale to this phase and had emotional endings for their favourite characters.

Like I said, who knows, it might go well but I'm not convinced at the moment. Disney has been placing too much value on the wrong things for a few years now in their films so we will have to see what happens.

They might have been "A grade stuff" to comic book fans, but honestly not many people really knew much about Iron man, Captain America, Hulk or especially Thor.

Beyond the old 60's cartoon of Iron Man and the 70's TV show of The Incredible Hulk, anyway.

It was well before Marvel Studios had access to what people knew to be their big hitters, such as the X-men, Spider-Man etc.

Spider-man didn't get his own movie in the MCU until 2017!
