Marvell vs Intel Matrix which is best?

I've just purchased the Intel BadAxe2 it has both Intel and Marvel RAID controllers not sure which to use with my HDD's. Is there a performance adavantage of one above the other?

If so should I then use the other for the optical drives?

The Intel RAID controller is turning in some good performance figures on other boards and I don't expect it to be any different on this one so I'd be tempted to stick the HDDs on it.

Normally the optical drives would go on the IDE port or are you using SATA opticals?

Yes I've gone for a Samsung SH-S183A SATA drive.

Great mobo

. I've used the Intel Matrix controller, brilliant performance! I'd recommend that one for your hard drives - I connected another sata drive to the Marvell and it was more or less the same, certainly wasn't any better - the intel slots also support NCQ.
