I bought Mass Effect 1 on the pc last night and have installed it. I cannot get AA to work. I know you can rename the exe but on steam that is not possible. Is their another method for ati cards?

Just go into ccc (catalyst control centre) and remove the tick from use application settings under the 3D tab.

Edit: I've never used any driver hotfixes malarkey.

Since I played ME 2 first, ME 1 is sorta annoying me in the amount of weapons you find all over the place that are only slightly better than the last one you found, much prefer the system in ME 2,

I actually prefered ME1's, apart from the inventory space and constant need to omni gel things.

Actually, the only thing I didn't really like about ME1 was the weapon overheat thing, I think the second one handles weapons far better in that respect.

I know for Nvidia just not ATI :(

Nvidia you need to rename the game shortcut to UT3 then forcing will work not sure if this works for ATI I dont think it does.

I have tried it. I put edge detect on and maximum and i didnt get any slow downs which i always do in games as its extremely brute method so its not work.

You dont think forced AA worked because your game didnt slow down? Why not just look at an angled line to see if its jagged?

I installed it for the first time three weeks ago, patched it to the latest level and then forced the AA in CCC, works perfectly.

I seem to recall the AA effect was fine when I used it in ME2 demo the other night, as long as I didn't hike it up to high of course.

try renaming the mass effect exe to UT3.exe. you'll still have to force AA in the control panel but it should work. mine is still downloaded so i cant try it yet :)
