So im currently playing Mass Effect 1 for the first time ever, then moving onto 2 & 3

It is a great game so far, but the only thing is i've lost the plot as to what I am meant to be doing and who's people names are lol, it's all got rather confusing! All these new names keep appearing and i'm not sure if there people, places or technologies!! - Does it matter story wise?

I feel i'm just grinding doing stuff now as I've lost the plot of the story!!

Did anyone follow it through and understand it??

From what I remember it was a bit daunting after leaving Eden Prime and arriving on the Citadel and lots of quests to do. If you are not much further than that then don't worry it should start to fall into place soon enough.

Brilliant game! :D

Just reached Noveria ? a planet or something, hopefully ill piece it together soon

The controls are a bit shoddy LOL

How can you lose the plot?, it's in your Journal where your supposed to be going & why your going there.

Noveria is one of the "story" planets, so there'll be a thread there you can latch on to. Next up is Feros, I think.

The plot really starts to come together shortly after where you are, and the ending is a blinder.

I never managed to stick out Mass Effect, restarted it a few times but seem to lose my way or get bored. Bought ME2 for some reason as well and never played it

That;s why I mean I don't know where half the places are lol, and the descriptions are abit vague

And all these names keep appearing in dialogue and ive got no idea who they are, then they add some more in lol

Yes you do a bit but as the game goes on it starts to make sense. I've just completed 3 and have to say playing all three nearly back to back was awesome experience. Stick with it :)

Mass Effect 1 was a difficult game to keep track of the story with all its side missions etc...

Mass Effect 2 was a little better in that regard, Mass Effect 3 however I eventually got bored of it and never did finish the series off..

Mass Effect 1 is actually the best out of the lot for the story as lots to it, Mass Effect 2 was a lot more action then anything else, it just continued the story from the first.... Playing the first one is IMO essential to the whole series..

Explore a bit.

It's funny the main mission is called "Race against time", but you can spend ages exploring all the uncharted worlds. :D

The story will piece together as you go along. There is a lot of dead time in the middle, but you'll know when it starts to pick up near the end - and then it's just one non stop rollercoaster till the credits.

ME1 has the best plot of the three games by far. The ending in particular is fantastic. They never topped it.

The only problem is the control scheme is pretty bad. ME2 had it whupped in that department.

You're not paying attention.

that could be true, I stopped paying attention after a few action missions and had to do a recap, its quite easy to get lost and forget the plot..

If you really are getting lost in the story, then wiki to read up, might help as it is a complex game with a lot going on..

I just finished my second playthrough of ME1 and I am not really sure how you managed to lose the plot, the main story is really really short, only doing the side missions does the game become longer. Anyway make sure you do all side missions so you can level up, makes the end fight a breeze.

"Enemies everywhere!"

Man I'm never going to get to play Dishonoured! I'm playing Skyrim (60 hours in and easily another 150 to go), then I plan to replay Bioshock. It's been too long since Mass Effect was in my life, and usually just hearing the Citadel or main music in my head is enough to make me want to fire it up!

So I'm looking at Skyrim -> Bioshock 1 and 2 -> ME1, 2 and 3 -> Dishonoured. My life is going to vanish until next year I fear!

You gotta be kidding me, ME2 controls are an appalling console port, one of the worst I've seen in years, and a massive step backwards from ME:

-Can't change mouse sensitivity in game, have to hack an encrypted .ini file using a special editor
-Clipping issue where you can get stuck in the scenery, so you have to bind a key in the aforementioned .ini file to "ghost" mode
-Consolidated controls  In ME, you could have seperate binds for sprint, crouch, cover, action etc, whereas ME2 forces you to have multi-function keys, when you have an input device with over 100 buttons

In fact I'd go so far as to say, I've never seen a AAA game as highly rated, with such an appalling control setup as ME2 when fully patched to the final version.
