Mass Effect 2, worth buying now?

imo the gameplay was better than ME1, for the simple fact that i didn't spend half of my gaming hours choosing new gear/weapons, leaving far more time to focus on the story, as for "dumbed down" its good on the hardest difficulty:) overall I have over 70 hours playing the game plus its DLC's, best pre-order i've done in a few years

I found it harder to enjoy ME1 when that came out. Personally I feel ME2 was a much more character driven game, which I prefer. ME1, too me, felt like it didn't know what it wanted to be.

Yes buy it :D

Of course.
Say what you like about the story and gameplay, it is still head and shoulders above its peers.

Apart from the original...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's not as good as ME1. The storyline just doesn't make you feel as important. It didn't make me care about it :o

I bought it for a fiver from a friend, not convinced by all the crazy reviews. I wasn't expecting such a brilliant game. One of the best games to come out in years and clearly worth £30. Try and get it cheap and buy the DLC for it :)

Its about 9 quid from many online shops. Bargain!

I picked this up in the steam sales, took me a while to get into ME1 but this is awesome! i've had to change my pants atleast 3 times and I'm only a few hours in.. it's that good.

What problems?

Bought it on release and it was one of the best games of the past few years.

Theres a bug, in which if you move to close to a table or a box or something like that you walk on air and your unable to get down. I've had to restart an area because of it a couple of times now, but it's hardly a massive problem.

It's definitely a good game & worth a purchase. I liked both ME1 & 2, played both one after the other & preferred ME1 if I'm honest.

But for £9 delivered on THE RAIN FOREST & VERY LONG RIVER website it's a steal.

I played ME2 a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, there are still issues with the PC version, absolute disgrace that Bioware hasn't patched them yet more than a year after release:

-Can't change mouse sensitivity - jesus christ, even 15 years ago this would have been unacceptable!
-Weird clipping problem where you get stuck up in the air on small ledges and have to reload a previous save or use a "ghost" bind
-Consolidated control mechanism, not a bug just poor design. ME was much better as you had seperate keys for sprint, crouch, cover, action etc.
-.ini file has some kind of encryptions/protection so you have to use a 3rd party editor (essential to work around the first two issues I mentioned).

Still worth buying the game but just bear in mind it is probably the least polished AAA title I've seen in a very, very long time (for at least 5-8 years).

Worth paying full price for, but if you aren't in a hurry pick it up on steam sale or something similar when it appears.

where can you get the DLC's for it please?

Such a good game, especially if you have played ME1 and got to know the background/universe etc.....

I personally loved these games and I can't wait for the 3rd.

If I get time I will re-play these (which is a rarity for me with any game).
