mass effect any good??

When I tried it it was smooth here, 1680x1050 all high. did not really try any AA/AF but the problem is I got lots of stuttering :s.

Really? Granted my res is lower, but at 1280x1024, everything high and texture on ultra high and 'filter' set to anisotropic it runs fine. Haven't seen any slow down yet.

The leaked versions are same as Assassins Creed by the looks of it (busted/non finished).

Reading you get about 1 hour of gameplay and then a Map is busted that you need to travel to other planets once you are given a Spacecraft.

I have fixed the lights at least somewhat. But due to it being UT3 engine its never gona let me have AA on xp with dx9 card. :(

The mod is simple enough. Just open with notepad or wordpad which ever is better for formatting of the file. (notepad ++ myself)

Find <Your install directory>\Engine\Config\BaseEngine.ini

Find

[SystemSettings]

Edit

MaxAnisotropy=16 (was 4)
Trilinear=TRUE (was FALSE)
MotionBlur=FALSE (was TRUE) dont like blur
DepthOfField=FALSE (was TRUE) dont like blur

Then save, when you launch mass effect again it will have been reset to 1024x res and medium details but when u change em back to ultra textures etc and high res etc the above tweak will still work so up ** details ingame click apply (might put u back to desktop) just relaunch the game. Then your settings and the tweak should be ok.

Can't you change these settings in game? Bittech mentioned some/most of the settings need a restart to take effect, is that basically what's missing here, you've set certain settings and they haven't taken effect yet?

Either way, it does sound like its broken, bit tech seems to think it looks pretty good graphically.

Either way, its a great story, there are slower story parts, you know the parts that make truly great games good. If you only like shoot 'em ups and "pick up and play" console games theres no reason you would particularly like the game.

Either way, a working copy, and a known final copy is generally thought to be the best thing to make final comments on. For instance Assasins creed the leaked version crashed like a mofo, constantly, for almost everyone, but final game never crashed a single time for me and most people had FAR fewer problems.

Unfortunately it probably won't lose its console feel, but then again, so what, thats how many games are. The game isn't great on the 360 because of gameplay, although its good, its great because of the story, timing, idea's and design of the major area's, this doesn't change no matter the controls.

I've yet to try it, might not bother, it was 3-4 years between my replays of Kotor, can't see the point in playing time and time again and doesn't seem worth paying for twice, what game is. i simply can't imagine any mouse controlled aiming to ever be worse than console control, so if its not worse, meh.

No drunk, these are hidden settings that arnt configurable in the gfx settings screen you can turn blur on or off you can set filtering to anisotropic but not the level. You cant tweak Deapth of field, or trilinear etc.

The game is probably the best RPG I have played in years, alongside the PC's Witcher (yes I have u-turned). Hell I even bought the novel...which I have yet to read.

Played it around 7 times over on the 360 and had a blast each time, trying out different classes and tactics etc. The game is a trilogy so this is a setup for the remaining games. Storywise I reckon it was superb, especially if you utilise the codex (ingame sodding bible). Don't expect a freeform game where you can explore and find new planets etc. You can do that but there's sod all to see aside from key structures. No idea what is going on in that screenshot above though because it looks well off.

The cut scenes are amongst the best I've seen on the 360. Some are bink/smacker rendered, whilst some are using the ingame engine. You can easily spot the smacker versions anyway.

/me does a captain anderson clenchfist...

Release Data
Mass Effect Electronic Arts 05/28/08 US
Mass Effect EA Games 06/05/08 AU
Mass Effect Electronic Arts 06/06/08 EU

I think it may have been late in US as it was the 30th AFAIK.

If you asked me 1 month ago, I would still have said the 30th.

And obv this issue I have read about must be some leaked copy like Assassins Creed.

Go to the start menu and select the "Squad" tab, then use the points you recieve from leveling up to increase your skills with various weapons. Of course, the weapons you can use depend on what class you're playing as; Biotics, for instance, can only train in the use of pistols and light armour whilst the Solider class can train with any weapon in game and is the only class able to use heavy armour.

Its a shame you cant take direct control over other squad members like you could in Kotor. And whats up with the sniper weapon when aiming. Its all over the place lol and im a soldier so should be efficient in the use of the sniper weapon. If i pump in upgrades to my character it should improve i.e be more stable aiming? If so how many upgrades should be enough for good usage of said weapon?

Well considering at the start of the game he has 0 training in sniper rifles i don't find it too far fetched. When you upgrade your assault rifle skills enough the ability to train yourself with sniper rifles becomes available and makes a huge difference to the accuracy.

Well i'd consider my system (read sig) is a medium system and it plays well enough since the game uses a "if fps is below low then lower quality temp to get fps to 22-30 ish minimum".

8800GTS (512mb), 4gb ram, vista 64, q6600 @ 3ghz, runs absolutely flawlessly with the latest nvidia drivers, vsync enabled, 60fps, not seen any frame rate drops as yet and it looks stunning with full detail, id go as far as saying its one of the best looking pc games ive seen.
