Mass Effect - some questions

Best game in many, many years. Such a fantastic story and extremely immersive/cinematic. Still need to get my disc sent off to Scratchbusters for repair since the dog had a go at it so I can get round to my 2nd, 3rd and however many more playthroughs.

Unfortunately installing the game to the HDD doesn't have any positive effect on performance. It's like Halo 3 in that you should not install the game to your HDD if you want the best performance. The performance drop in doing so might not be as great as installing Halo 3 but it is neutral to negative nonetheless. I found textures to load slightly slower than when I had the game uninstalled. I guess the game was optimised to write data to the HDD in the first place, so if it is reading and writing data then it'll have a negative effect on performance. Still, at least it gets rid of the ridiculous DVD drive noise, which was the main reason I installed the game to my HDD.
