Mass Effect TV Show (Amazon :D)

Ari Arad is the producer. A guy who has a unique talent for failing upwards.

A nepo baby of Avi Arad who I guess knows a lot in hollywood and to be fair has done a lot of ok marvel films.

Ari produced the Borderlands film, forget all hope this will be good.

Likely be another Halo but the casting will give away if it will be good or not.

Best case scenario it will be a middling series.

He also produced Uncharted in 2022 and the Ghost in the Shell remake which was meh.

Need to give him another video game movie experiment to butcher.

If they mis-cast / mis-write Garrus, I'll will be extra peeved.

It will be likely set in the same universe but likely not the trilogy story.

It wouldn't translate well into a fixed tv-series plot.

Could be interested in this, though it's a few years now since I did a back to back playthrough of the three core games (think I burned out).

There was an animated movie based on the franchise a few years ago, not bad but didn't really bring in any of the main characters.

Amazon's upcoming Mass Effect TV adaptation will focus on an original story rather than rehashing BioWare's classic trilogy of video games starring Commander Shepard.

BioWare revealed the news today as part of its annual N7 Day celebrations, as it hinted at what's next for the Mass Effect franchise.

"We’ve been partnering closely with Amazon on [the series], and we’re really excited with what the talented team over there is coming up with," Mass Effect boss Mike Gamble wrote in a blog post. "The writers room is going strong, and we’ve got a lot figured out about how it fits within the Mass Effect canon, and where it sits in respect to the new game. The show will explore a brand-new story within the universe’s timeline, and will be set after the original trilogy. It won’t be a retread of Commander Shepard’s story – because after all … that’s YOUR story, isn’t it?"

Good news, this way hopefully it will be closer to Fallout TV show than the Witcher.

Or is this yet another example of TV Writer's Ego's thinking they can write a better story than the one millions of people have played, lived and loved across millions of hours?

Considering how much of the games is simply having conversations with random people followed by hours of firefights, I don’t think it would translate well. Games generally don’t. Besides, a game movie of ME3 on YouTube takes about 24 hours to watch :D

I love the Halo and ME universes, and the Halo TV show was just getting good at the end of season 2, but just making the game stories directly into TV shows doesn’t work - they’re too different genres.

It just doesn't make sense. Mass Effect is so much about choice and personal stories that making one set of choices "canon" would just annoy fans of other choices. Is Shephard male or female?

He's doing a great job of following in the footsteps of Uwe Boll.

Ah this will suck donkey balls, I have no doubt about it.

These streaming services buy up IP's and utterly butcher them :(

The last of us and the Witcher have been particularly abysmal.

I think the only one I've quite enjoyed is fallout.
