Happened twice now in 2 days
First was on my xfx 8600gt while playing Darkfall black flashes pink squares etc massive visual lag, so i took the card out and put in a 7600gt ran fine until 30 mins ago i stuck on Nvidia monitorview and see it's sitting idle at 71 degrees when I start up Darkfall or Cod4 it rises to 94 degrees sometimes hits 110 where then the game will freeze up and i'll have to kill the process

I didn't check the temp on the 8600 i just took it out aas I presumed it was buggered had it for 2 years no almost.

Was wondering if this could be anything else in my PC, I ordered a new 9600gt which should be here tomorrow and I don't want the same to happen to it lol.

Specs are M2n32 sli deluxe MB with amd 64x2 4400 ,
2x 1gb ocz reaper in 1 channel and 2gb stick of some PNY ram in another
fitted into a **** galaxy case with the standard 450w power supply

Processor was slightly overclocked but all was set to default after I took out the 8600

edit
heh site for my case link is censored :)

Check airflows, do you have enough in-take / extract fans to supply and remove cool / warm air.

The site were you got your case from would be classed a competitor ;)

Cleaned out all my fans and such always ran fine until 2 days ago =/

just managed to play a roudn on COmbat arms as son as it got back to the menu i got freezes and purple/pink dots etc guessing this card's dead now aswell

Never had a look before but I jsut felt the coppor piping over the nvidia chipset in this board M2N32SLI DELUXE ASUS and it's very hot, any help / suggestions would be nice plz :(

i've got the same board (now on my server) and it really suffered above 45 degrees.. as soon as the motherboard hit over 45 the processor fell over...

try taking the side off the case, and playing. If it lasts longer and runs cooler then u've got a problem with air flow.. either in or out.

Best bet is to create negtive pressure (more exhaust fans) also tidy up cables in side the pc - that one really helps small cases.

I managed to tidy it up and run teh gpu 7degrees cooler but as soon as i run something like COD4 or darkfall it climbs to 80 from 60 in about 10 seconds and rises to 100+ at which point i quickly kill process and reset my system, the Nvidia chipset (Southbridge maybe? ) gets extremely hot also but the chip just above it copper pipe/sink is pretty cool

questions

why do you keep buyin gt's?
what kind of cpu cooler u use? stock hsf should blow air to cool it down

you could ziptie a 70 or 80mm fan to one of the heatsinks around the cpu socket

or it could be your psu not providing stable voltage

bought the 8600gt with this mobo couple years back done me good til the other day when it fried
7600 is a spare from a dif pc remember it working fine in that one
and a mate has the 9600xfx gt it performs good so I bought one only 60 quid all I had t spend.

I use a blueorb thermal take cooler for the cpu, Huge thing CPU is fine though stays stable at 35-45degrees, http://img.neoseeker.com/v_image.php?articleid=1926&image=39 the chip on the far right on this pic is the one gettign extremely hot even when idle and climbs with the GPU

i was readin around and saw it had ppl experiencing similar issues

what you can do is pull of the heatsinks on the board to see if it is making good contact with the chips. also check to see if the heatpipe has good contact with the heatink (the one on the far right)

my friend has the same problem with a m2n4-sli with a gtx280
i had the same board with a x1950gt and no issues with temps/overheating

if the heatsink/pipes doesn't have good contact, (can test it by heating it up with a hairdryer and see if the heat 'travels' to the other heatsinks), then try an ati product and see if is still persists
