Masterchef...

Does anyone else play the Masterchef game?

In our house, we all sit there, and you 'shot-gun' the person you want to represent you. And by represent, I mean actually be you.

It then just becomes a slagging match at how bad you all are at cooking. Particularly relevant when you are all mediocre cooks...

roast her by her own petard?

You clearly watch too much Masterchef - it's 'hoist'. :D

I enjoyed it at first but I wish they'd found a happy medium between the old and new styles. I can do without the professional kitchen challenges, and can take or leave the presenters.

Certainly do! :D

Only once people start getting knocked out it deteriorates quickly into an abusive slanging match that verociously attacks any physical attributes / silly comments rather than judging their cooking ability :p

Unfortunately in our philistine version of the same game, an unfortunately placed mole or temporary speech impediment easily overpowers a michelin star cooking talent.

Anyone else notice tonight when that stupid girl burnt her hand it was her left as she was holding the oil in her right yet when it came to putting it under water/in the ice and bandaging it up it switched to her right? all very odd if you ask me!

That is a very good point. I spy a BBC investigation :D

I'll roast her by her own petard if I choose to. :p

Just watched it again on BBC iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00hmr8y/MasterChef_Series_5_Episode_22/ @ 5:08 she certainly does burn her left hand then runs her right hand under the tap, puts it in ice then gets it bandaged.
Really weird one that !

I've noticed they have kept chicken well away from the first round in this series. After a lot of half cooked attempts in last series where they show mortified faces after discovering it was raw.

Pretty addicted to this too for some reason :p

Can't believe no one has done a pee-take sketch of it yet though, it's ideal!

The quality of the music played throughout the show is equally as good as the quality of the food.

I always end up watching it when i'm hungry though :(

Look closer.

In the scene before the one you mention, she's berated by the chef for forgetting to sauté the mushrooms for her omelette and has to throw it in the bin. Look at her right hand when she's carrying the omelette to the bin.

The whole scene seems to have been chopped about for a bit of dramatic licence as it jumps around in terms of the real timeline. Although it does beg the question how the dopey cow managed to burn both hands in the same service.

She appeared to have no burns for the final cooking test.

I would say that the final test was done after she'd been able to get the burns seen to by a specialist. There's no way they'd pile more misery on the poor girl by making her cook one-handed, and judging by the damage it would have taken a few days to heal sufficiently.

And the voiceover never says that it's the following morning, just that it's 'early morning on day two'.

Apologies for the resurrection but has this series finished?

I've just found out a friend of mine from School is in the Semi's
