Off to my first live game today, Saints v Blackpool and I'm wondering if I'm to be faced with meat pies and cups of Bovril (not that I'm complaining) at half time?

Looking forward to the game, taking my two 20 something brothers, my wife and 5yr old son but boy isn't it going to be cold :o Does it feel much/any colder for the fact it's in an open stadium?

You managed to get married and have a kid before you went to a football match??? Boy are your priorities mixed up;)
lol lack of money and time has been the culprit there.. plus I am now working through my list of things to do before I snuff it (sounds morbid I know!) so the Saints have given me/us five free tickets just cause I'm classed as a terminal cancer case :) Plus we have a stretch limo to take us down in style, going to be a bonzer day.. I just hope the Saints can pull out a win to top it all off.

Steakbake sounds ace and my son is all ready with his Saints hat and scarf set etc.. I'll post some pictures later if anything interesting happens - that's a point, I presume cameras are allowed?

Well, a cracking day was had by all!

We had a stretch limo there and back (courtesy of my stepdad) and got there in time to take advantage of the pie and pint for a fiver deal.. chicken balti pie (lovely!)and a pint of Tetleys went down well!

We had tickets in row AA so a pretty good view in all - I thought my five year old may get a little bored but he loved it!

1-0, not the best display of football ever and it could have ended up going either way but a fair result in the end :)

Me and my two brothers on the way down.. mmm, champers!

Yep all in it was cool ,well impressed :)

good stuff, thats what football is all about , getting ready the meeting up and traveling , a few drinkies and finally the footy ... although I'm sure that cost you a bit lets hope your son doesn't expect that every time hehe!!!
lol he knows (I hope) it was a one-off so next time will be different!
Glad you had a good day dude :)

Sorry to hear about your illness :(
Hey, glass half-full - I still have time to do all the things I wanted to, including the match yesterday so all isn't bad :) Looking at a trip mountain scaling in Scotland after the New Year if I'm still around!

If you dont mind me asking what kind of cancer you are suffering from.

Two people in my close circle of friends and family are currently suffering from Leaukemia, one is a 2 year old baby:(
Soft tissue Sarcoma (Synovial) that I had in my lung two years ago, been clean since and now it's spread to my brain.. had one tumour cut out but there are two that are there to stay. Radiotherapy at the mo, see if that gives me a little time but <1 year so I've got plenty to do!

2yr old baby, that's harsh :o I couldn't imagine outliving a child, it's hard enough to see my parents fretting over me :(

Not having experienced any other stadia, I can say I was happy with the food and general service at St Mary's and I will be going back again whilst I have the chance (although maybe when it's a little warmer!) :)

snip..

Mark
I know how he feels, it would be all too easy to give in and just let it all wash over to succumb. I suppose it depends on the sort of person you are, I have always been scared of the thought of death (someone flicking off your light switch = strange) and I want as much time with my wife and son as possible.

Give him his space, if he isn't up for stepping outside the circle then let him - some people seem not to be able to take it and turn inwards.. give him my best, tell him to hang on for Christmas (that's what my next mid-term goal is) and bathe in the joy of the family and eat loads of Turkey!!!

Cheers,
Marc

PS yes I a definitely looking at going to another match again, probably going to take my son to a Basingstoke match (hmm, maybe;)) and then another Saints home match - he loved it, and despite the photo the missus did too ;)
