Ok to cut a long story short i bought an acer predator for £800 pounds...Specs are

Intel® Core 2 Quad Q9550
(2.80GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 12MB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
4GB DDR2 memory
2x 640GB SATA hard drives
512MB NVIDIA® GeForce 9600GT graphics x 2
Blu-Ray Player and DVD Rewriter
Media card reader
USB ports

People have told me i was ripped off spending that much for whats in it... i do have an oportunity to take it back..but i dont want to do this if there would not be a major differnce..

So if someone could make a machine thats better then that for £800-£850 MAX!! that would be fantastic

Thanks in advance

this is about £25 over budget but is well worth it; the graphics could easily be swapped to something less powerful (HD5770) to save £100 but all in all I think it would be considered "better" than that Predator :)

You didn't get the answers you were looking for in this thread?

No because if you read that thread or the other one my misses said i need to keep it to the £800 budget which none of them are...

Bjn... how much better is that spec then mine? because people are saying mine is well overpriced all tech etc... but i am yet to see someone link a system better then mine with a £800 budget.

well the Acer predator for starters is using an Intel Core2Quad (LGA775 socket which has no future proofing whatsoever. The on I spec'd uses one of the newest CPUs around (Intel's i5 750) which is arguably the best CPU for gaming with at this moment in time. Also, being on the LGA1156 chipset it has some scope for upgrading in the future.

Secondly, if you have just copied that directly from the Acer website it doesn't specify the brand of RAM, and it is also only DDR2 - again this is old tech whereas the Dual-Channel DDR3 RAM I spec'd is much newer and has better performance.

That Predator comes with Windows Vista Home Premium, compared to my spec that contains Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit so that it can use all 4GBs of the RAM in the system. Again, Windows 7 is arguably better than Vista in all sense of the word.

The graphics cards I'm not even going to comment on, there's plenty of threads around here for you to make your own comparison.

Again I'm presuming the optical disc drive in the Predator spec is a generic device, whereas the one in my spec has got a fair few decent reviews already.

My spec does only come with one hard drive and no media reader, but hard drives are easy to pick up and I'm willing to bet any money that the Samsung F3 is better than the two in the Acer. Media card readers are again something that are cheap and easy to find and pick up.

TBH most people here build their PC's
If you want us to show you a pc worth £800 in components, or do you want us a pc already made for £800?

I like your spec very much after re-looking at it again and i can even get the money down abit by losing the CD drive you have linked and get a cheaper one for now and upgrade in time.

To confirm for that price that machine is far superor then what i have... i dont mean really in technology...but the entire running of the machine.

Thanks for your help mate

just seen someone trying to build a rig for 900 pound which is basically my budget ...now he has opted for a amd set up and the one i am interested in is Intel which someone linked what in looking at gettin a few posts back on this thread..

now my question is, is his set up he has chosen better then this intel one... as i has been amd for the past 5 years and never had a problem
