Matched betting - who's done it and who's good at it? (No Referrals)

I thought anything rated above 99 were the ones to go for?
I tried a range of stakes but all returned a loss, commission was 2% using Smarkets.

If you're using Smarkets as your exchange then somethings not right. If you're 101 rating then you should be in profit.

The point is that what used to be quite a good thing for people who knew what they were going now just get spoon fed.

It's not like it's difficult to understand either. PA etc are great for offers etc but the fundamentals are pretty basic maths. People are literally throwing hundreds of pounds around without actually knowing what they are doing.

Match betting will be dead soon due to this lazy exploitation

Only a rating of 100 will give you no loss

I somewhat agree with you. I have to understand everything before I'm comfortable with throwing money around. IF spreadsheets, how laying works etc. The only thing I use PA for is their list of offers.

It is quite depressing seeing some of the comments on the PA forum from people who have literally not bothered to read or watch any of the tutorials, walk throughs or other information and insist on getting spoon fed even further. Can only hope that their incompetence means they screw up and act like mug betters.

On the other hand, without it getting as popular as it has done I probably never would have found the time or effort to get involved despite being reasonable sound of mind :p And I'm definitely glad for the extra income even if I do only do it casual enough for an extra £2-300 hundred a month, if that.

More people doing this with no idea of what they are doing :(

If you're referring to me then thanks. Why not post something constructive and helpful rather than make snide comments?
To give you background, I used to be a member of PA last year for a few months and did all of the tutorials and start up offers on there. I decided to have a look at Oddsmonkey yesterday as I wanted to get back into it.

So no, I'm not someone with no idea of what I'm doing but asking for clarity and advice.

Is there an alternative to PA's odds matching software? Tried Match Catcher yesterday which was great but want to get some mugs down.

Ignore him Maccy, all his posts are whining about something, hence my comment about him reminding me of Marvin from Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. Honestly I don't think I've ever read a single helpful or useful post from him, it's all whinge, whine, moan, bla bla bla.

Generally speaking you dont want to be picking matches/horses that will return a profit (which is called an arb). Bookies hate arbs because they cant make any money out of it and it's a shortcut to getting yourself gubbed.

Aww diddums.

I did reply, anything with 100 is no loss. For a 99 rating you lose 1% so a £100 qualifier will lose £1.

Its a shame mbassist.co.uk is down as that was free and very quickly found good matches. (although not live as it had a 20min delay). I suspect its all with this oddsmonkey partner issue that's going on.

Probably the opposite - if more punters make mistakes, the bookies benefit ergo more offers for the rest of us :-)

All the MB 2nds have gone, the 2nd to SP fav are much more annoying. Ive not really bothered the last few weeks. Cheltenham spoiled me and now the football season is ending.

I guess Euro2016 could be another big one.

For anyone else still looking for help without PA. Matchedbettingblog is decent and also has a forum (although that's got very quiet lately)

I strongly suspect it's just a cycle though. Once the offers die, the budget for advertising will die, bookies will start suffering, they'll start throwing out offers again and we're back at square one.

if they've got a finite marketing budget and/or are getting a reduced return per offer then the future offers are going to be less lucrative

they're going to look at how profitable the new accounts are when they run a promotion and if that is dropping as a result of matched betters making up a higher portion of new accounts then it will have an effect

they will have made money on Leicester winning, may have paid out a few big wins but the vast majority of bets lost

Is it worth signing up to PA/other sites for post-sign up offers? I did a fair bit of matched betting a couple of years ago and did the introductory offers for most of the bookies. Is there a good site or tutorial for highlighting continuing offers? (I presume that waiting for the start of the football season is a good idea for another round of offers?)
